ERX TORC Round 4 Pro UTV Race
Report
::Continued::
Chaney took the points lead at the last ERX race
in June and has held it since. Van Eperen was
his closest rival, but broken ribs sustained in
a motorcycle crash have sidelined Van Eperen,
putting Johnny Greaves into substitute mode. Despite
little race experience in a TORC UTV race, The
Pro 4 racer was competitive to the end.
|
Kyle Chaney
secured his second win of the season,
which extended his points lead to 9 points
heading into the final two rounds this
weekend
|
“It really sucks that Rodney can’t race, but
I think he has the best backup driver you could
ask for,” said Chaney. “I’m really going to have
earn this. Usually my spotter doesn’t say much,
but he was talking to me this whole race. These
guys were on me and there was a lot more for him
to do. They had some good lines. He helped me
change my lines halfway through the race and it
worked out well.”
Johnny Greaves made his first-ever TORC UTV start
nearly pay off for Van Eperen. Despite little
seat time, Greaves is a professional in every
sense of the word, and he showed it.

Yamaha's
Johnny Greaves is filling in for Rodney
VanEperen who is injured and unable to
race, but Greaves was up to the challenge
as he battled with Kyle Chaney for most
of the race for the lead
|
“I’m filling in the best I can for Rodney,” said
Johnny Greaves. “He has big shoes to fill because
these guys are out here fighting for a championship.
It’s a learning experience; these things are pretty
gnarly. I’m learning more about it every time
I go out. We’re going to make some adjustments
and we’ll make up a little bit of speed. Kyle
is running great. He knows how to turn it up,
but I’m keeping Rodney in the hunt.”
|
CJ Greaves
charged his way from a last place start
to catch and pass his father, Johnny Greaves,
but he dropped back to third in the final
lap with Johnny finishing in the 2nd spot
behind Kyle Chaney
|
CJ Greaves put on a show in the Pro Modified
race. After starting last due to not being able
to qualify, he was up to seventh on lap four,
third on lap six and actually moved to second
on the final lap. Unfortunately, the fast drive
from back to front took its toll on his ride and
throttle body issue and a cut tire moved him to
third at the finish.
|
Yamaha's
CJ Greaves claimed an impressive 3rd place
finish in Pro Mod after starting in last
place
|
“We definitely had the fastest car out there,”
said CJ Greaves. “I got up to second and was reeling
Chaney in, but the throttle body came off and
I got a flat tire. From last to what we had to
work with, I think we had a pretty good run. We
definitely had a fast car and, for the rest of
the weekend, you boys better watch out!”
