4x4 Pro Podium |
Buckhannon lost course at the start of the event,
in the woods, and drove through the field to net
the third spot on the box. “I made a mistake and
nearly bypassed the hill climb in the woods,”
explained Buckhannon. “I hit the brakes, and rode
onto the hill on a funny angle. I got hung up
for a minute. From there on out, I had to chase
through the class. I got up to fourth on the second
lap. Then I took third, but I just couldn’t work
through traffic.
“I felt good and fast,” added Buckhannon. “The
Can-Am was working well. I had no excuse. It just
wasn’t for me to win that day. We’ll take that
third-place finish and get those valuable points.
We have three races left. I’m fired up and more
determined than ever.”

Pro class |
GNCC returned to competition after the summer
break and Buckhannon was primed for another podium.
While enjoying the time off, Buckhannon also spent
a lot of time on the track, getting his Can-Am
dialed in for the last four races of the 2015
GNCC season.
“The summer break went well; I got to catch up
with my family and working at my regular job at
Tucker Rocky,” said Buckhannon. “We also got some
practice in. I ran the Heartland Challenge. That
was fun. We tried some setup changes there. We
also raced a couple of local events, so I felt
good going into this race. We made a lot of improvements
on the bike from the first half of the season.
Physically this was the best I’ve really felt
all year. I felt fast and I was ready for the
battle.”
Buckhannon said his Can-Am is better than ever
going into the final races of the season and he
is ready to earn the championship. He continues
to hold the points lead by 14 markers over second
place.
“The Can-Am was working great; we just couldn’t
make up the time,” said Buckhannon. “One small
mistake just cost us several minutes in the end.
I can’t remember ever being on such good equipment.
I’m a little disappointed in the results, but
watch the fire in the last three rounds.”

Buckhannon’s nephew, also named Bryan, is still
trying to outrun a streak of bad luck in the Youth
Class, but he isn’t about to give up. “We’ve changed
everything in the world, but we’re just having
trouble with that machine,” said Buckhannon. “We’ve
just had zero luck. He’ll bounce back. He’s a
tough kid.”
Buckhannon will attempt to keep his podium streak
alive with another win when GNCC hits Central
City, Pa. for the Car-Mate Mountain Ridge race,
