Moreno Valley, CA (9/28/2018) –
BDR Motorsports / Polaris driver Larry Heidler
finished 16th in his SXS Pro Stock debut,
and was eighth in the SXS Pro race during
the WORCS Series weekend at Glen Helen Raceway
in Devore, CA. Heidler’s daughter Kaitlyn
finished sixth in the Pro Women’s race.
Heidler spent the entire summer break rebuilding
both his Pro and his daughter’s Stock Polaris
RZRs. Though he fought a turbo issue in the
SXS Pro race, new tuning on his FOX Shocks
placed him eighth at the finish.
“We made some huge breakthroughs during the
summer break,” said Heidler. “FOX has done
its homework and they have them working like
butter. Between the last round and now, the
car is just amazing by comparison.”
Heidler also ran his daughter’s Holz Racing
Products-built Polaris RZR in Pro Stock in
what became his class debut. Interestingly,
Kaitlyn Heidler flipped the car in the Women’s
race, but the legendary Holz cage held up
perfectly and allowed the elder Heidler to
compete in the Pro Stock race after simply
changing a belt and gassing it up
“She flipped the car over and there was nothing
wrong with it afterwards,” explained Heidler.
“Dan Durade came over and helped me swap a
belt. We added five gallons of gas in it and
I ran it for another 45 minutes. I finished
16th in my first Pro Stock race. Kaitlyn is
doing great and once she gets the hang of
it she’s going to be contending for championships.”
Heidler believes in running the best products
and, like most racers, always has an eye on
safety. He said his Holz cars have saved him
from injury several times this season.
“If you want to compete, you have to use
the best in the business and Holz, by far,
builds the best cars,” said Heidler. “I’ve
had some hard crashes this year and I’ve walked
away from every one of them. Holz makes the
best products by far.”
Heidler also runs the best of the best in
his components. Super ATV Axles, GBC Tires,
and Raceline wheels are just a few of the
superior products he runs in both his and
his daughter’s cars.
“We just installed a new set of Super ATV
axles into her car and Polaris helps us a
lot,” said Heidler. “We ran GBC Dirt Commanders
with Tire Blocks and experienced no flats
whatsoever. The tires hooked up and the Raceline
wheels held up great.”
Heidler loved the opportunity to race at
home in front of his family and friends. The
track is just 15 minutes from his home and
he has raced there for several decades.
“The track was phenomenal and the layout
was great,” said Heidler. “It had some good
fast sections along with some tight areas.
This is my home track and I’ve been racing
here for 30 or so years. I just love this
place.”
Heidler next heads to Mesquite MX in Nevada
for the next round of WORCS competition, scheduled
for October 5-7.
