Tempe, AZ (10/9/2018) -
Pro Motorsports’ Matthew Hancock scored a
top-ten finish during the WORCS Pro Stock
SXS race at Mesquite MX. Due to a fatality
at the track on Sunday, the Pro race was canceled
and the season finale will feature double
points.
Due to expert clutching by Sparks Performance
Products and the grip of his Maxxis Tires,
he got a good start in the Pro Stock race.
Minor mechanical issues slowed his charge
in the wet and muddy race and he finished
ninth.
“It was a rough weekend,” said Hancock. “The
Sparks clutching and Maxxis tires got me off
to a great start behind Beau Baron. The Elka
suspension was working great in the off road
section. I had a few small issues and I had
trouble putting everything together. The track
was super rough with deep ruts and whoops.
It was completely different from the quads.
Despite the minor setback, Hancock remains
third in points and is looking to hold that
podium slot after the last race of the season.
He will also be competing in the double points
Pro event.
“We’re still in the hunt, but it will be
tougher now,” said Hancock. “We’ll go out
there for double points and see what happens.
I like the Primm track so it should be a good
weekend.”
Hancock said WORCS officials made the right
call to cancel Sunday’s races: “My thoughts
go out to his family. We’re all here to race,
but racing is second to that.”
Hancock is looking for a strong showing as
WORCS contests it season finale for the SXS
classes November 2-4 at Buffalo Bill’s Casino
in Primm, NV.
