Unadilla Amateur ATV
Motocross Race Report
::Continued::
The intensity in the Youth All Star class is
well known, and Unadilla was no different. Troy
Hill managed to take the overall win, impressively
taking the win in both motos. Hill now has a 37
point lead.
With a breakthrough ride in second was Root River
Racing’s Brandon O Neill. “I stepped my game up
and proved to myself I can run with Troy Hill
and Peyton Zimmerman. I finally put my head down
and focused on what I needed to do. It was a very
big accomplishment and was one of my goals this
year. I am going into Redbud with a whole bunch
of confidence, and I hope to be consistent and
hang with the top two again,” said O Neill.
Third overall was awarded to Peyton Zimmerman.
Zimmerman won his heat race division but took
third in moto two. “The track had a cool layout
and I had a good time. Going into Redbud the goal
is to win and see if I can get closer to the points
and come out with a championship. I am going to
put my head down and charge and see what I can
do. It is motocross so anything can happen with
the points,” explained Zimmerman, who is in second
in points.
Kierstin Keane backed up her impressive WMX finish
with the overall win in Schoolgirl. Keane took
a fourth in moto one, but it seemed to only light
a fire underneath her, as she came back swinging
to win the second moto, which gave her first overall.
Keane leads the points by 18.
Aubre King came in second with a strong ride
and consistent finishes. King was awarded 3-2
moto finishes respectively for her second overall
finish.
Niamh Shaw also had an impressive ride. Shaw
took second in the first moto and battled her
way to third in moto two for third overall. Shaw
stands in second place for the championship points.
The tenth round of the 2016 AMA ATV Motocross
National Championship will take place July 30-31
at Redbud MX in Buchanan, MI.
