Morgantown, WV (6/30/2016)
- The 2016 ProX ATV Motocross National Championship (ATVMX) presented by CST Tires, an AMA National Championship, reaches its stretch run with five rounds remaining and continues this weekend, July 2, at the popular Spring Creek MX Park in Millville, Minnesota.

Joel Hetrick is looking to make it six-in-a-row this weekend in Minnesota. |
While Maxxis/Elka Suspension/Liquid Wrench's Joel Hetrick comes into the Spring Creek ATVMX National with a five-race win streak behind him, Wienen Motorsports/Yamaha/Maxxis/SSi Decals/Walsh Racecraft/FLY Racing's Chad Wienen maintains control of the points. Wienen sustains nearly one full moto of points between his championship rival Joel Hetrick, but Hetrick will look to keep his Honda in front of Wienen in both motos this Saturday in an attempt to gain valuable points toward the National Championship standings.
The key for Wienen this weekend at Spring Creek, where he is the defending race winner, is to stay out of trouble. Any hint of misfortune could prove to be very costly to Wienen's hopes of earning a fifth straight AMA Pro ATV title, and Hetrick is eagerly awaiting for the chance to take advantage of any opportunity Wienen gives him.
It is obvious that Hetrick has the speed needed to earn his first ATVMX Pro National Championship, but due to a crash he suffered at the opening round he has spent the first half of the season chasing Wienen down. While he remains a permanent fixture on the podium he is eager to earn a pair of 1-1 moto scores this Saturday.
|
After finishing second at the last five rounds, Chad Wienen is hoping to work his way back to the center of the podium this weekend. |
Maxxis/FLY Racing/Baldwin Motorsports' John Natalie and Root River Racing/Hoosier Tires/Rage ATV's Josh Upperman both have podium finishes behind them this year. While the pair come into this round ranked third and fourth they will aim to take over the middle spot on the box for the first time this season at Spring Creek.
After earning his first moto podium, AGX Designs/Walsh Racecraft/Maxxis-backed Nick Gennusa will be looking to put it all together to land a spot on the overall podium this weekend. However, Maxxis/Root River Racing/JB Racing's Thomas Brown will be looking to do the same. Brown, a 2015 podium finisher at Spring Creek, will use that as motivation to repeat his success this weekend.

Nick Gennusa wants to keep his momentum rolling this weekend after earning his career best finish, third place, in the Pro class at Sunset Ridge in moto two.. |
Maxxis/Liquid Wrench/Elka Suspension/Honda's David Haagsma had a stand-out performance just two weeks ago in Illinois where he earned his first career professional podium. That result will serve as a springboard as the California Native will look to secure the seventh place position in the National Championship standings.

David Haagsma looks to grab another podium finish at Spring Creek MX |
Savage Motorsports/Maxxis/Walsh Racecraft/Elka Suspension/BCS Performance's Ronnie Higgerson and Koster Racing/Blommel Motorsports/Walsh Racecraft's Brett Musick round out the top ten in points heading into the Spring Creek ATVMX National.
Saturday's race schedule is as follows: practice at 10 a.m. followed by a timed qualifying session at11:30 a.m. Pro motos are at 2 and 4 p.m. with an autograph session taking place at 4:30 p.m.
