Downey, CA (3/16/2016)
- Jason and Derek Murray teamed up to finish
fourth in the Mint 400, Round 3 of the Best
in the Desert Championship. In the process,
the brothers notched their 41st consecutive
BITD finish.

The Can-Am / ITP / Murray Racing
team finished fourth at the Mint 400,
which was their 41st consecutive BITD
finish |
With rain the night prior, the track was
relatively dust free, but the unique challenge
of the Mint 400 was made further challenging
when organizers elected to run the race counter
clockwise instead of clockwise as in years
past.
Driving the Lonestar/FOX/ITP/Can-Am Maverick
Turbo, Derek Murray started the three-lap
race on the 110-mile course, ran the first
two laps at a conservative pace and then handed
it off the Jason for the final lap.

“We were banking on running a clean race,
and we had no flats and no issues,” said Derek
Murray. “We were hoping Jason could pick up
a spot at the end. We settled on fourth, which
is a little disappointing, but we’ll take
it. The whoops and the rocks were everywhere.
You got a little bit of everything: washes,
lake beds, whoops, it was cool that we ran
the course backward.”
The reliability of the Can-Am, combined with
the best components from ITP Tires, Lonestar
and FOX Shocks, has given the brothers the
unique chance to finish 41 consecutive BITD
races.
“These Can-Ams rock,” said Jason Murray.
“Not only are they fast, but they are reliable.
These things take a beating out here. What
we do in a day, a consumer will do in four
or five months. It just shows how durable
these Can-Am Mavericks are.

These ITP Tires used to be a competitive
advantage because we were one of the few teams
running them. Now everyone is running them.
It just shows how tough these tires are. We’re
going 60-70 miles per hour in the rocks and
not one flat all day. Lonestar puts together
an awesome package for these Can-Am Mavericks.
Along with these dual bypass shocks from FOX,
they really soak up the whoops.
“This puts us second overall going into Laughlin,”
added Murray. “Hopefully when the dust settles
we’ll be in the championship.”
The Murrays will be looking for victory,
as well as finish number 42, as BITD heads
back to Nevada for the Laughlin Desert Classic
May 5-8.
