Downey, CA (1/15/2016) - Can-Am / ITP / Lonestar Racing’s Jason and Derek Murray finished third in the Best in the Desert Series Side by Side Turbo class in the Parker 250, which was a podium sweep by Can-Am Maverick Turbos.
The team raced in the same Maverick Turbo they campaigned in 2015 with one important upgrade: more power. With the addition of new injectors and higher boost, their Maverick was bumped up to 131 horsepower. Jason Murray, who drove the entire race, took the lead off the line, but popped a belt at mile 60 and lost several positions. After getting back on track, he rebounded to record the podium finish.

The
Can-Am / ITP / Murray Racing team finished third in the new BITD Pro UTV Pro TURBO Class at the BITD Parker 250 in their Maverick MAX X ds TURBO |
“It was a good race,” said Jason Murray. “The bump in horsepower led to some problems with the clutching and the popped belt. After that, we weren’t pushing it 100% because we wanted to make sure we didn’t lose another belt. The car ran strong.”
“It was neat how all of the Can-Ams came in nose to tail,” said Derek Murray. “We swept the turbo podium.”
Rain early in the week led to a great visibility and a fast course. “The course was awesome,” said Jason Murray. “The rain kept the dust down. This was our best draw and we got to start out front, which is usually an advantage in the dust, but it wasn’t an issue this race.”

The Murray Team was running in BITD’s new turbo class, which is certain to become its most competitive class of 2016. “What’s neat about the Turbo class is everyone knows what they’re doing,” said Jason Murray. “The competition level is much higher than it was before.”
The Murray team will be back in action in the UTV World Championship, scheduled for February 18-20 in Laughlin, NV.
