Pro Motorsports’ Matthew Hancock Second at WORCS
WORCS Racing - Round 6 - Sand Hollow - Hurricane, UT

Tempe, AZ (4/20/2016) - Pro Motorsports’ Matthew Hancock finished a career best second place in the WORCS SxS Pro race on Saturday, and he came back Sunday and scored another milestone with a top five in the Pro ATV race at Sand Hollow State Park. Jeff Hancock finished seventh in the Pro ATV event.

The race was held in the picturesque sand dunes in Utah. With heavy winds all weekend, and rain leading up the event, the track was challenging, comprising rocks hidden in the sand, many square edges and difficult visibility.

In the Pro SxS race, Matthew Hancock was again on point again as he finished second. His first WORCS Pro SXS podium gives him a huge boost, both in confidence and in the championship points race.

“To know I can drive with the top drivers is great,” said Hancock, who now sits fifth in the title chase. “We’re all super close in points, so it’s nice to be up here with just three races left. This is a good step in the right direction.

“The Sparks Motor and Maxxis Tires really hooked up at the start,” continued Hancock. “The Walker Evans suspension is working great and Pro Motorsports has given me everything I’ve needed. We hit a lot of rocks today, so without Tire Blocks I wouldn’t be here on the podium.”

Hancock almost won the race by taking over the lead in the final lap of the race, but he held on to score a runner-up finish after an intense battle to the end.

“I moved up to third and we all bottled up behind a broken down car on the last lap,” said Hancock. “So the whole race started over from there. I took off and we ran bumper to bumper. I knew I had a shot. I looked at the scoring and I saw that the top guys were all within a minute of each other. That’s pretty intense with the level of drivers here. I’m pumped at how far we’ve come.”

In the Pro ATV Race, Matthew Hancock’s best finish came as a result of a stepped-up training regimen. In fact, Hancock said he had more in the tank when the race was over.

“I set a pace that was a little too slow,” said Hancock. “I’ve been training a lot lately and I’m in better shape so I should have picked it up a little more at the start. I felt a lot faster than I have all year. I’m excited about the top five, but I’m more excited about having a smooth race and feeling good. I have to thank DA8 Training and Elka Suspension. Doug really has the shocks dialed perfect. I hit about everything and didn’t have to worry about it.”

Jeff Hancock didn’t have luck on his side this weekend, but he didn’t give up and came home with a seventh place finish in the Pro ATV race.

Pro Motorsports and the Hancock Brothers will be back in action April 15-17th as WORCS heads to Mesquite, NV for an ATV and Motorcycle only event for round seven.
