Can-Am / Quad Boss’ Bryan Buckhannon Wins Snowshoe GNCC
Bryan Buckhannon Wins First 2016 Pro 4x4 Race This Year
Daniels, WV (6/30/2016) -
Can-Am/QuadBoss/BikeMaster’s Bryan Buckhannon won his first 4X4 Pro race of the 2016 season at the Snowshoe GNCC. The defending champion came out ahead of a final lap, four-quad battle to net the victory.
Buckhannon dedicated his victory to all of those who suffered losses during the flooding in the state of West Virginia during the week prior to the race. With more than 10 inches of rain in the area prior to race weekend, much of the state was destroyed by flooding.

“This win is huge for us,” said Buckhannon. “With all of the flooding in West Virginia, it was nice to hopefully raise some spirits. I’m blessed that my house didn’t get affected, but I have a lot of friends and customers that have been affected. I hate to see anyone struggle.”
Buckhannon was second after the traditional Grand Prix style start on the pavement in front of the ski resort and was quickly up front. After falling back in the middle stages of the event, Buckhannon charged into the lead and then held off three other competitors to win by mere seconds.

“I started out second into the woods, and I had a really comfortable pace going,” said Buckhannon. “I fell back to sixth and started climbing my way back up. It was a great race and couldn’t have happened in a better place than West Virginia. It was really tough to focus on the last lap. I knew if I just stayed on the inside, and didn’t make any mistakes, it was going to be hard to pass me on the outside. It all worked out.”
Buckhannon said his Can-Am was perfect during the race. He upped his horsepower at the beginning of the season moving from an 800cc engine to a 1000cc powerplant. Along with longtime sponsors Custom Axis and Quad Boss, everything came together at Snowshoe.

“The Can-Am had all kinds of power,” said Buckhannon. “We’ve been fighting hard for this win this year. We finally got it where we wanted it and the bike is handling perfectly. The geometry is exactly the same as the 800, but the horsepower makes it completely different. We had to work on the clutching. The biggest problem we had is it would try to wheelie, so we had to work on how to get the power to the ground. We worked on the shock setup and made some adjustments to the clutch.
“Custom Axis has jumped in there and really helped us out this year so has Quad Boss,” added Buckhannon. “We haven’t changed our program a whole lot. We try to keep the same group of sponsors year to year.”
Snowshoe is the traditional race before GNCC’s summer break. Buckhannon won’t be slowing down during the off time.
“We’re not going to let up during the summer break,” said Buckhannon. “I’m racing a local series and I should be racing every weekend, and have been racing every weekend since February. We actually raced more this year than in the past.”
Buckhannon will be back in action when the GNCC series returns to competition September 10-11 at Unadilla MX in New Berlin, NY.
