- Racer Tech’s Logan Gastel
drove a Can-Am Maverick Turbo to a fifth-place
finish in the Pro UTV Turbo Class in the Mint
400. The race was Round 3 of the Best in the
Desert Championship.

the Mint 400 race shortly after sunrise |
Gastel ran a competitive race and notched
the top five in the tough 330-mile race. The
event was held on the typical Mint 400 course,
but it was run in the opposite direction from
year’s past, giving veterans like Gastel a
brand new course to contend with.
“It was brutal,” explained Gastel. “We ran
the Mint 400 backwards, so we ran up and into
the canyon and it was definitely rough. We
got all three laps in and we’re here at the
finish line. I’m just glad we got a finish.”

Gastel’s Can-Am was built by Racer Tech and
features Racer Tech hard parts throughout.
He said the durability of the Racer Tech components
was welcome on the tough race course.
“This is our seventh race on our Racer Tech
components and not one failure,” said Gastel.
“This race was 330 miles of pure hell, and
they held up. I’m pretty impressed. Racer
Tech built us this car. We have 2,500 race
miles on it and have yet to have an issue.
They build our steering components, long travel
suspension, fifth links, tie rods; all of
that stuff has held up perfectly.”
Gastel will be back in action as the series
heads back to Nevada May 5-8 for the Laughlin
Desert Classic where he and his Racer Tech
Can-Am will be in top contention.
