Thomas Brown ATV Motocross Race Report

Sanger, TX (5/10/2016) - Root River Racing / Maxxis’ Thomas Brown competed in round four of the 2016 AMA ATV Motocross National Championship at Ironman MX in Crawfordsville, IN. Brown went 6-14 to salvage eighth place overall.

Thomas Brown battled through the mud in Moto One to claim a sixth place finish

Rainy weather saturated the track for the first moto, which caused Brown some difficulties,  but he managed to salvage a sixth place finish. “First start I came out somewhere outside the top five. Somehow a bunch of people spun out and I ended up in third for minute, doing pretty good. I made a huge mistake, went off the track and into some trees. When I came back on I just lost all composure. It took me a few laps to regain my marbles,” said Brown.

In the chaotic, muddy, off track mistake a few riders were able to catch and pass Brown. He found his composure back and persevered to take a sixth place finish.

“Going into the second moto I was ready to put my head down and put in a good moto to turn the weekend around. I came out great in second behind Joel Hetrick. It was going good, Joel and I were running up front and I felt like I was starting to pull a gap on third, but a lap and a half in we had a technical difficulty,” stated Brown.

The mechanical issues that plagued Brown forced him to slowly ride around the track just to salvage as many points as possible. “It was not the best weekend but the bike was working great in all the roughness, and really pulled in the holeshot with the DASA motor and Pro Motorsports fuel injection, and the Walsh and FOX suspension were all working great, we just have to finish some second motos to get back on the box this year.”

Despite the difficult weekend, Brown has maintained a positive attitude and is ready to get back to work for round five. “Hopefully for round five we have some good weather. I just want to put two good motos together. We just have to go out there and do the best we can each moto and see how it pans out. I am staying on the East Coast where I will focus on putting motos in and training on the side. It will be a little bit of a change of pace, and I am pretty excited about that.”

Brown will compete at the fifth round of the AMA ATV Motocross National Championship at High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, PA May 21-22 where he will be going for redemption.
