Thomas Brown ATV Motocross Race Report

Sanger, TX (6/23/2016) - Root River Racing / Maxxis’ Thomas Brown came into the seventh round of the 2016 AMA ATV Motocross National Championship working through an injury sustained at the previous round. Racing was held at Sunset Ridge MX in Walnut, IL and Brown managed to salvage a sixth place overall finish with 7-5 moto finishes.

“I went into there with two bum hands. One had a pretty good gash in it. The swelling went down the week before Walnut on my right throttle hand. Coming into the weekend it was kind of tough for me to grab the brake and throttle at the same time like I normally do. The bars jarring in the hands really made them sore, but overall I was still able to ride. I knew it was going to be a salvage weekend. We just had to go out there and do the best we can,” explained Brown.

In the start of the motos, Brown was unable to be as aggressive as usual. The bar banging with other riders was too much for the weakness in his hands, so he played it smart and safe. “Normally I can bust through on the first laps. This weekend it took me longer to get there. I just could not ride like I normally do. The pain was not too bad, but it was the weakness.”

In Moto 2, Thomas Brown finished top five to earn sixth overall

Moto two was Brown’s most impressive ride. He came back from twelfth all the way to fifth place for a sixth place finish overall. “My fitness felt great both motos,” said Brown.

“The Root River Racing/ Maxxis machine is working out great. The program I put together I can not be happier with, and the people behind us are great. The Maxxis Tires are hooking up great and Fox Shox really stepped up this weekend and got the bike handling great,” said Brown of his sponsors.

“I think we will be back to 100% or close to it by Millville. I am ready to turn it back up and put this Root River Racing/ Maxxis machine back on the box where it belongs,” stated Brown with determination.
