Sanger, TX (7/6/2016) - Root River
Racing/Maxxis’ Thomas Brown took a top five finish
at the eighth round of the 2016 AMA ATV Motocross
National Championship. Racing was held at Spring
Creek MX in Millville, MN where Brown went 4-7 for
fifth overall in the Pro class.
Prior to the race weekend, Brown enjoyed media
day at the track and a visit to the Ronald McDonald
House in Rochester, MN.
“There were several local news stations here
and we got to tell them a little bit about racing.
We had a lot of newbies to this sport, but they
seemed really interested in it. After that we
went to the Ronal McDonald house in the evening.
We saw some kids that are having a tougher time.
We work hard every day to race and these guys
work hard just to live. We took pictures with
everybody, threw out some Frisbees, and everybody
had a good time,” explained Brown.

Decal's hooked Thomas Brown up with a patriotic
graphic kit & DASA Racing sent him a
custom Red,White, Blue Exhaust |
In spirit of the July 4th holiday weekend, Brown
switched over to a patriotic look. “Ian Harris
with SSI killed the graphics, it looked like an
American flag. DASA gave me a red, white, and
blue pipe and Fly finished it off with red, white,
and blue gear. I am proud to be an American and
live in this great country.”
When the gate dropped on the first moto, Brown
launched his Root River Racing Yamaha off to a
great start. Unfortunately a mechanical issue
caused him to lose a few positions. “I was sitting
around fourth on lap two and all the sudden the
bike died going up the hill. I tried to figure
out what was going on and all the sudden I got
power back. I pulled back on the track around
tenth and worked my way back up to fourth,” said
Brown.

Brown finished 4th in Moto One |
The second moto Brown battled it out with Nick
Gennusa but could not make the pass before the
checkered flag. “I had a worse start and had to
work my way through. I was behind Nick Gennusa,
and he was riding really well, I could not find
a line by him. The track was super one lined,
and I ate roost from the second lap on.”

Brown finished 5th Overall for the weekend |
Brown now sits in sixth place in the championship
points. His speed is there but some bad luck and
hard hits have kept him from the podium finishes
he strives for. “I feel like I am a title contender
but I am no where near that right now. It has
been a rough season but I am happy to be healthy
and walking. My team has my back and will do whatever
they can for me, I just have to put the results
in and put us back to the fun side of racing where
we are winning.”
Brown is hungry for a podium finish and will
come into the ninth round of the series stronger
than ever. Racing will be held at Unadilla MX
in New Berlin, NY on July 16-17.
