The 2016 NE-EDT series presented by Noel Property/Schaeffer Excavating Nationals kicked off with a bang as Brian Ace took his newly finished TDR built/Maxxis/Elka/Six5Design 450 to a convincing Pro-Am Heat win under the hot North Carolina sun on Friday afternoon. With a front row start for the main Ace would go onto finish second under the lights behind Brad Riley. Round one of the pro class also ran on Friday night and would see Ace take his new ride to a strong fourth place main event finish as racing concluded for the evening.

Round two of the NE-EDT series would take place on Saturday and Ace would take another Pro-Am heat win and a second place finish in the Pro heat into Saturday night’s main events. After getting pushed wide in the first turn Ace would go onto finish fourth in Pro-Am. With little turn around the team would get Ace lined back up and ready for the Pro class. Ace would again work his way into fourth place on the tight track. Ace heads into round three sitting 10 points out of first in Pro-Am and 11 points back in Pro. “Rounds One and Two are in the books for the NE-EDT series and overall it was a great weekend, the new Vechery backed Six5Designs/Elka/Maxxis/Rath/Tru way racing Honda is hands down the best bike I've been on. It was solid weekend, but we will improve and build from here as a team. I want to thank all my sponsors for making this possible,” said Ace.

Racing's Tim Dettling & Brian Ace head
into a turn |
Rounds one and two of the NE-EDT series would mark the return of longtime Vechery Racing rider Tim Dettling to full time racing. For 2016 Dettling is making the transition to the NEEDT Pro and Pro-Am class after racing a few rounds in 2015 in the Pro-Lite and Pro-Am class. With limited EDT seat time Dettling would start on the front row for Friday night’s main events and take home an eighth in Pro-Am and seventh in Pro.

With more track time and confidence going into Saturday, Dettling would take his Yoshimura/TRE Honda to a second place finish in the Pro-Am heat race behind teammate Brian Ace and back that up with a fifth in Pro. Moving into the main events for the evening Dettling would go onto finish ninth in Pro-Am after running off the track to avoid a wreck and eighth in Pro. Dettling currently sits eighth overall in Pro and ninth in Pro-Am after two rounds.
