Hamilton, MT (4/26/2012) - How is it possible to make ATV riding any more enjoyable? Bumping on hard terrain, sloshing through mud, splashing through a stream, climbing rocks or just plain racing these machines defines fun. But what if there was something that you can add to the ATV riding experience. You keep doing what you’re doing only you add a bit of an adventure to the ride.

Many ATV clubs are now exploring the phenomenon of geocaching. Basically, geocaching is hunting for a cache hidden on or just off a trail using a GPS receiver and coordinates and possibly other clues given to you by the group that hid the cache. So you are enjoying the ATV ride, like you always do, with an added activity of hunting for something.

Many ATV Clubs are getting involved with geocaching that gives the rider a new experience while riding an ATV or UTV / SxS

A website that provides all the answers on geocaching with an explanation of the game, a description of the few rules that govern the game, and a glossary of terms used by geocaching enthusiasts is called geocaching.com. The location of geocache games and the coordinates of where the cache is hidden and some hints are also on the site. After experiencing a geocaching event listed on geocaching.com, gamers are encouraged to log on to the site and describe their experiences hunting for the cache.

Geocache
A geocache is a small storage box that is hidden along an ATV or SxS riding trail. A geocache can contain a log book or trinket like Travel bugs or Geocoins

Briefly, the cache is a small storage box that holds a log book and possibly a trinket. Using the coordinates supplied to you and a GPS receiver you hunt for the box. It can be hidden in brush, in a tree, behind a rock, under a log or under or beside any object of nature. When you find the cache, you open it and sign the log book inside and include the date and time you found it. If you want you can also write about your experiences hunting for the cache.
