ACU Quadcross Jason
Macbeth Takes Second at Duns MX
Goldspeed ACU British
Quad Championship - Round 2 - June 12, 2011
Duns, Scotland (6/22/2011) - Jason
Macbeth travelled North with his Four Tech ATV to
the excellent Duns Motocross Circuit on the Scottish
border for round two of the 2011 ACU British MMX
Quad Championship on Sunday the 12th of June. One
of the longest and most picturesque tracks on the
British circuit, Macbeth was happy to return for
another victorious day, finishing 2nd overall on
the day which already puts him in the top of the
British Championship, after missing the first round
of the British to race in the South of France at
a European meeting.
Severe weather in the week prior to the event
and for much of the day beforehand had left the
normally hardpack surface a lot softer underfoot
with many areas cutting up and getting more deeply
rutted than usual. Despite these conditions Macbeth
secured a decent 9th fastest qualifying time and
with a few set up changes he was ready to race.
Race One
As the gates dropped for the first of the twenty-five
minute plus two-lap moto, Macbeth wasted no time
in the opening lap to fight for a top podium position.
Using the awesome power of the Four Tech ATV Racing
TRX450R, Jason battled furiously for the lead
in a four way tussle over the opening stages with
no more than a second separating the top four,
Macbeth comfortably holding his position to the
chequered flag after thirteen frantic laps to
finish an outstanding 3rd.
Race Two
Another brilliant start to race two saw Jason
slot in to 2nd halfway around the opening corner
place only to become the victim of another riders
mistake which got him tangled up and dropped him
back to 15th.. Quickly focusing on the goal of
a podium finish, Jason used the excellent handling
of the Lonestar / PEP suspension to blitz through
the field, making up an astonishing ten positions
for 5th place. Jason continuing his amazing ascension
through the field to take a fantastic 4th at the
chequered flag, a true testament to his determination
and fitness throughout these physically demanding
races.
Jason Macbeth Quote:
“I’ve ridden this track before and
although the weather conditions were against us
this time, Quad Racing Scotland did a fantastic
job repairing the track after all the rain we
had and I’m pleased with my overall result.
My quad set up is working particularly well for
me enabling me to attack the jumps and corners
to gain decent lap times, although I’m disappointed
I didn’t get a win in the first race, I
got an excellent start and had a good battle for
the lead throughout the race. Obviously after
getting such a good start to the second race I
couldn’t believe it when I got caught up
from another rider spinning in front of me, but
I managed to work my way through the pack finishing
with my second decent result of the day. I’m
now looking forward to the next round of the British
Championship in Northern Ireland on the 2nd of
July”.
