Valcourt, Québec (11/15/05)
Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP)
releases the Outlander 650 H.O. EFI, a new Bombardier
ATV aimed at one of the industry's fastest growing
segments, the 600-700 recreational-utility "rec-ute"
class. With its combination of the most powerful
engine in the class and lightweight, sophisticated
platform, the Outlander 650 H.O. EFI will set the
standard in the booming 600-700cc rec-ute class.
The new ATV fits into the company's new focus on
ATV enthusiasts.
The 650's engine, the Rotax 650 H.O. EFI, is a
smaller displacement version of the 800. In addition
to the most power in the class, the 80-degree V-twin
delivers torque with a throaty sound enthusiasts
will love. The advanced electronic fuel injection
and engine management system ensure optimum performance
in all conditions at all RPMs including easy
starting in cold weather or at altitude.
The engine is not the only key component shared
with the 800 in fact, the Outlander 650 is
equipped with all the best and latest BRP technologies
that make the Outlander 800 H.O. EFI a blast to
ride and own. Such as the SST frame, TTI rear suspension
and Visco Lok differential, new double A-arm front
suspension, additional front and rear travel, added
ground clearance, steel racks with added capacity,
D.E.S.S. security system and multi-function information
centre gauge.
"The new Outlander 650 H.O. EFI is exactly
what a Bombardier ATV is a powerful, lightweight,
versatile and fully loaded four-wheeler with fun
as a standard feature," said Pierre Arsenault,
Vice President and General Manager Snowmobiles,
Watercraft, ATVs and Sport Boats, BRP. "We
are going to continue to expand our line-up with
vehicles that do more than go from point A to point
B. We want to make that ride fun and easy
something you look forward to all week."

Key Outlander 650
H.O. EFI Features:
Rotax 4-TEC 650 H.O. EFI V-twin
The most powerful engine in its class.
80-degree V-Twin for satisfying torque and
sound. Sophisticated EFI system improves
throttle response, fuel economy and ensures
easy starting and performance in all conditions.
Trailing Torsional Independent
[TTI] Rear Suspension The trailing
arm design, with single pivots positioned
ahead of the wheels on a torsion bar, allows
the wheels to travel straight up and down,
delivering constant, straightforward travel
and better overall handling.
Surrounding Spar Technology
[SST] frame The unique extruded
steel frame of the SST surrounds the engine,
with less material, fewer welds and less weight
than conventional ladder-type frames. Its
narrow centre spar provides ski-like slide-and-glide
action for getting over obstacles.
Visco-Lok Auto-Locking
Front Differential Delivers
true all-wheel drive by
monitoring speed at all times and progressively
adjusts torque without having to push any
buttons. It delivers all the needed traction
when it's needed, without compromising steering
and handling.
Continuously Variable
Transmission [CVT] Quick engagement
"get-on-and-go" capability and instant
performance. Engine braking is standard for
improved control on descents.
Double A-arm front suspension
Reduces bump steer and steering effort.
Aluminum upper arms and mounts reduce weight.
Inboard disc brakes
Front and rear disc brakes are located
at the differential, inboard along the chassis
axis. So they are protected, plus, there's
less unsprung weight at the wheel. Bottom
line more effective, fade-resistant
braking when you need it.
Steel Racks
New steel racking system increases capacity,
100 pounds [46 kg] in the front and 200 pounds
[92 kg] in back and adds lashing versatility.
Multi-function electronic gauge
Includes both an analog and digital display
the rider chooses whether the analog gauge
displays RPM or speed. The other metric is
shown in the digital info screen, which also
features fuel gauge, gear selection, odometer,
engine hour meter and resettable trip meters.
Digitally-Encoded Security
System [D.E.S.S.] The industry's
first standard anti-theft system. The ATV
won't start unless the rider uses the correctly
coded electronic key.
Front fascia
Restyled for a more sophisticated, yet
aggressive look.
Clear lens headlamps
Sophisticated style and 35% brighter.
Subtransmission
Features high, low, neutral, reverse
and park settings.
Transfer Case
Choose either two- or four-wheel drive
to match performance to conditions.
26-inch [66cm] Badlands

400 Watt magneto
standard to drive a host of accessories.
Service center
Accesses key service components easily
through the front storage compartment.
