Hurricane Mills, TN (5/16/2014)
-While the threat of severe weather lingered for the entire weekend, the thunder and rain held out through the ATV races. The famed Loretta Lynn’s ranch is the eldest on the circuit and has hosted more GNCC races than any other location. Because the ranch has hosted so many races over the years, there are trails in every direction, so riders must be skilled in following the course arrows. Also, the heat and humidity that often comes with this particular race can certainly tests a rider’s endurance. Going into round six, still there is no predictability within the 4x4 Pro class. All of the riders continue to switch it up, change the standings and keep us guessing. The only sure thing at this point is the level of competition.

Rick Cecco currently tied for fourth in the GNCC Pro 4x4 Class heading to round 7 |
All of the 4x4 Pro riders find their spot on the first line and wait for Mr. Towery’s famous drop of the green flag. Rick Cecco has been working on changes to improve his Polaris Scrambler and its start, but unfortunately, hasn’t quite nailed down those enhancements yet. Heading into the woods, Cecco was in the last position. Fortunately, like a number of previous races, by the end of the first lap, Cecco managed to gain enough ground to secure the third place position. Through lap two, Cecco realized some shock changes weren’t as beneficial as he had hoped as he lost valuable time muscling his way through the course. Through the end of lap three, Cecco maintained the sixth position.
On lap four, still working to make up ground, Cecco pitted to refuel. After cutting the engine, a failed battery left Cecco unable to start the engine and continue the remainder of the race. While this race was certainly a disappointment, Cecco hasn’t lost any confidence and is already eager for round seven. Having been on the podium for half of the races thus far, there is no question that he’s got what it takes. While Tennessee saw the mid-way point of the 2014 GNCC racing season, there are still seven rounds to go and the first 4x4 Pro rider championship is not yet out of reach for any of the riders!
