Bakersfield, CA - (6/18/2014) - The Maxxis / H&M Motorsports team headed east this weekend to take part in round five of the 2014 Mt. Dew AMA ATV Motocross Championships at Briarcliff MX where David Haagsma finished in seventh place and Beau Baron placed just outside of the top ten.
The west coast duo, who dominate in the WORCS and Quad X series’ were able to take advantage of the WORCS series summer break and head back east to have some fun at the AMA ATV Motocross Championships.
“We have been looking forward to coming out here and having some fun. It’s a big difference between here and out west. We are experiencing a drought out west and everything is dry and sandy, but here there is plenty of water and dirt. It’s a big change for us,” said David Haagsma.
In the first moto, David Haagsma was outside of the top ten going into the first lap. Haagsma kept his cool and began to work his way forward. In the final three laps, Haagsma had moved up to seventh place and held it all the way to the checkered flag.

In the second moto, Haagsma had a good start and was holding down sixth place, but soon came under fire from Josh Creamer and Josh Upperman. Haagsma would end his second moto in eighth place for seventh overall. “It was really fun. My Maxxis tires hooked up great off the start and I had really good traction. We didn’t have a lot of time to prepare for this round, but we are looking forward to going to Spring Creek in two weeks,” said Haagsma.
Beau Baron had a rough start in the first moto after getting together with Joe Byrd. Baron eventually got free and charged his way to a 12th place finish. “There was a bit of a pile up in the first corner, and I thought I was clear of it, but I got tangled up with Joe Byrd and was in dead last off the start,” said Baron.

Moto two went better for Baron. He was again outside of the top ten off the start, but he kept pushing and made his way to tenth before reaching the checkered flag. “I’m not really use to running such short races, so it was tough to find my groove out there. For the next round I hope it’s really rough. I noticed some of the guys around me start to fade toward the end when it got rougher, so I think that will be an advantage for David and I at Millville. Overall it was a lot of fun. I have to thank everyone for all of their hard work and helping us get here,” said Baron.
Round six of the 2014 Mt. Dew AMA ATV Motocross Championships heads to Millville, MN for the Mt. Dew Spring Creek ATV National on June 28th where the Maxxis / H&M Motorsports team will be ready for action.
