JB Racing / Mtn Dew / Can-Am ’s Joel Hetrick Wins High Point
Joel Hetrick Earns His First Pro ATV Motocross Win of the Season
Seneca, PA (5/21/2014) - JB Racing/Mtn Dew Livewire/Can-Am’s Joel Hetrick charged his way to a hometown win this weekend at round number three of the 2014 Mt. Dew AMA ATV Motocross Championships at High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, PA.
The weekend started out great for the #88 of Joel Hetrick as he accomplished a feat that no one else besides Chad Wienen has managed so far this season, by taking the ATVRiders.com fastest qualifier award. “I started out getting the fastest qualifier award, and I felt really good out there,” said Hetrick.

For the first gate drop, Hetrick was in fourth off the start and after a good battle with Josh Creamer, made his way into third and began to chase down second place. It wasn’t long before Hetrick closed the gap and started to pressure John Natalie for the runner up spot. After a heated battle, Hetrick made the pass just before the mid-way point of the moto and held the second position all the way to the checkered flag, which set the stage for moto two.

For the second moto, Hetrick quickly moved into the number three spot behind Chad Wienen and John Natalie. Hetrick made the pass on Wienen early in the moto and was right on Natalie. Hetrick pressured and made the pass for the lead in the very next lap. Once out front, Hetrick began to pull away, but an issue late in the moto put a huge amount of pressure on the Can-Am racer. “When the two lap board came out I was scared. I knew I was having issues, but I just pushed through it and finished,” said Hetrick.
Hetrick was still able to take the moto two win with a four second lead, which gave him his first moto and overall wins of the season. “It feels great to take the win. It’s the first one I have had all year, and I have worked really hard for it. I have to thank Can-Am, JB Racing, Mt. Dew, Hetrick Racing, my mom and dad and everyone who has helped us out. It really means a lot to me to take this win today and it makes it even better that I was able to do it at my home state,” said Hetrick, who is currently third in series points.
