Walnut, IL (6/5/2014) - JB Racing / Mtn Dew Livewire / Can-Am’s  Joel Hetrick overcame the tough conditions at Round four of the 2014 MT. Dew AMA ATV Motocross Championships to claim a top five finish at Sunset Ridge.

A rough track greeted racers for round four of the series and warm, humid weather conditions added to some of the issues many racers had to contend with over the weekend.  Despite the rough track, JB Racing/DWT/Mtn. Dew Livewire/Can-Am backed Joel Hetrick pulled off 4-5 finishes to round out the top five.

JB Racing's Joel Hetrick finished fourth in Pro Moto 1

Hetrick was looking strong in the first moto as he shot off the line and soon took the lead. Hetrick held his lead for about a lap before an intense 5-racer battle began. Hetrick fought hard, but ended up falling back to fourth place before crossing the finish line. “All the top guys were really close and we were battling. I think the lead changed about four times in the first lap,” said Hetrick.

Hetrick also looked good off the start in the second moto and was moving through traffic; unfortunately a mechanical issue slowed his pace. “My Can-Am worked good and handled great in the rough chop. I just couldn’t get where we needed to be today for a good finish. An issue developed in moto two that caused a power loss and for my own safety I had to just finish out the race the best I could and salvage as many points as possible," said Hetrick, who worked his way up to a fifth place finish in moto two despite the issues.

In Moto 2, Joel Hetrick finished fifth earning fourth overall on his Mtn Dew Livewire / Can-Am DS 450 at Sunset Ridge MX

“I really want to thank JB Racing, they worked hard this weekend and did a great job. It was a tough track with all the sand and chop but they had my Can-Am handling great out there,” Hetrick added.

Hetrick is currently third in series points and with a strong finish at round five, he could easily take over the runner up position. “I think I’m about a point off of second place so I am hoping to take a win at the next round,” stated Hetrick.

Round number five of the 2014 Mt. Dew AMA ATV Motocross Championships will head to Nashport, OH for the Briarcliff National on June 14th where Joel Hetrick will be going for his second win of the season.
