Seneca, PA (7/30/2014) - Joel Hetrick took his JB Racing/DWT/Mtn. Dew Live Wire Can-Am to the pro podium for the fifth time this season at round number eight of the 2014 Mt. Dew AMA ATV Motocross Championships; finishing third overall.
Warm weather and sunny skies were on tap at the legendary Red Bud as Saturday’s races got underway. Track conditions started out good, but became rougher over the course of the day, but Joel Hetrick was ready for the challenge.
Hetrick was in the top three off the start and quickly began to chase down second place. In the third lap, Hetrick made the pass and took over second. Although he would gain ground on the leader, he was not able to close in enough to make a move and claimed second place in the first moto. “The first moto was good. I had a good start and my tires hooked up great. The Can-Am was working awesome and my Elka shocks were great on the rough track so I was able to hold on and finish in second place,” explained Hetrick.

Joel Hetrick finished third at Red Bud Motocross. Hetrick has landed on the podium five times this season on his JB Racing / DWT / Mtn. Dew Live Wire Can-Am |
In moto two, Hetrick was squeezed out on the start and while trying to get by another rider in the back section of the track, he went down. Hetrick was able to keep going and worked his way back up for a sixth place finish. Hetrick’s 2-6 finishes gave him third overall on the Pro podium.
“Moto two got a little crazy though. I had a good start but ended up getting into the back of Thomas Brown and crashed. I got back on really fast and worked back up to sixth in the second moto. I still got third overall so I am happy to be able to put my sponsors on the podium again,” said Hetrick.

Joel Hetrick sits 2nd in the Mtn Dew ATV Motocross Championship Racing Series |
Joel Hetrick has had strong finishes all season long, and his determination has put him in second place in series points with 306 points, giving him an eleven point lead over third place. That point spread has Hetrick feeling pretty confident going into the final round of the series. Last year, Hetrick took a third place finish at Loretta’s and this year, he is hoping to top that. “I am currently second in points. That’s the best I have ever done in the Pro class so I am pretty happy about that. I am looking forward to the final round at Loretta’s. I got on the podium last year, but this year I want to go there and win,” said Hetrick.
The final round of the 2014 Mt. Dew AMA ATV Motocross Championship will head to the infamous Loretta’s Lynn’s in Hurricane Mills, TN on August 9-10 where Joel Hetrick will be going for one last win.
