Shelbyville, TN (11/21/2014) - Late at night somewhere in the middle of the rugged desert landscape, during the month of November, a racer will stand tired and all alone while thinking to himself, I hope we can really get this done. Every year when it comes time to race the impossible race in the mysterious land of Baja California over half who come will fail while a few will not only set records but break them as well. This year was “the year” for Team UXC / Driven PowerSports racing as they did just that aboard their Factory sponsored Polaris Scrambler XP 1000!
“Heading down south of the Border for the 5th round of the SCORE World Desert Championship Series Team UXC was leading the points and just needed a solid finish to lock in the world title. The terrain was brutal as it is every year and Team UXC ran approximately 450 miles between 1st and 2nd place when we encountered a pair of flat tires. Riding over one hundred miles in the dark on just the super tough OMF beadlock wheels Chris Robinson brought the machine in. This happens in desert racing with the intensely sharp rocks under the sand but not usually in pairs.” Says Higbee.

Team UXC Racing BAJA 1000 team consisted of Don Higbee, Michael Swift, Chris Robinson, Jason Wade and Michael Burrows aboard their Polaris Sportsman XP 1000 |
Once the tires were replaced the 2015 Polaris Scrambler XP 1000 rocked the course without one mechanical failure on the factory machine. Even the factory Polaris CVT belt held on for every one of the 1275 miles!
Don goes on to say “We could not be successful without the support of all of our incredible sponsors and racing family. A huge thanks goes out to Polaris Industries for their support this year. It takes many to come together for a successful team and with the help of Factory Polaris and PR specialist Donna Beadle we have realized our dreams. We have and will continue to strive to make these people proud that they gave us this great opportunity.”
This race win not only brings the incredibly talented racers and crew a Score International World Series title but it also sets a mark in the history books as the first national series ATV title for Polaris and their brand new Scrambler XP 1000. Riders for this year’s Team UXC/Driven PowerSports Baja effort were Don Higbee, Michael Swift, Chris Robinson, Michael Burrows and Jason Wade. It takes talent, patience, an alert mind and great equipment combined with a talented team of mechanics as well as chase truck drivers to get Baja finished successfully.

The Team UXC Racing finished fourth in the Sportsman ATV Class, which was enough to win the SCORE Sportsman ATV Class Championship |
“It was a true team effort to get it to the finish line as our chase crew of Chris Ralph, Jesse Jackson, Charles Booth, Colt Golde, Torey Rush, Cord Mitchell and Rodrigo Santana made it happen. These guys kept the bike fresh the entire race and we could not have done this without them.
Next up is the Best In the Desert Henderson 250 for Team UXC. Team UXC is leading the championship points in that series and we aim to wrap things up Dec 6th in Henderson NV.” explains Higbee.
