Shelbyville, TN (5/28/2014) - Team UXC’s Pro 4x4 racer, Michael Swift
#209, arrived in Masontown, West Virginia this
past Friday for Round 7 of the Grand National
Cross Country (GNCC) Series. Most of his
morning was spent walking the ten and a half
mile course taking mental notes of the rough and
rocky track. While the #209 had a solid podium
finish at Round 6, he was looking to improve
upon his third place finish.

Michael Swift finished just six seconds behind the leader to earn a close second place on his Polaris Scrambler XP 850 |
Only a few minor changes were made to
prepare the Polaris Scrambler XP 850 for the
rocky terrain and dry conditions for this
particular race. The green flag dropped on the
Pro 4x4 racers at 10:00 a.m. EST on Saturday,
May 25th. Swift claimed the third position
heading off the start line into the woods. By the
second lap, the #209 Polaris Scrambler XP 850
had moved into second position. Swift climbed
his way into first and lead most of the last two
laps.
“My pit crew showed me the board that it
would be a four lap race and I decided at that
time not to stop for fuel,” commented Swift.
During the last half of the final lap the #209
machine lost power a couple of times in some off
camber areas due to a low fuel level. This cost
Swift the lead but he held an impressive second
place finish. Swift crossed the finish line only six
seconds behind the leader.
“I am very pleased with my Polaris Scrambler
XP 850 and how it handled on the rough track. I
feel we are making great progress with the
Polaris and are proving that it is a contender for
the top spot in the Pro 4x4 class here at GNCC.
My Maxxis tires performed with perfection in the
rocks and the Custom Axis shocks were
amazing,” stated Swift.
Round 7 of the GNCC was also host to the
third UTV race of the season. Michael Swift of
Team UXC piloted its Polaris RZR 900 EPS
Driven PowerSports machine in the XC2-Pro Am
Class. The #12 machine started out in the 10th
position on the first lap but quickly worked its
way into second by the middle of the race. With
two laps to go, Team UXC encountered a bottle
neck at a hill climb. This caused them to slip into
5th position.

“We had a great race today and a
lot of fun. The Polaris RZR stood up to the tough
coarse and performed outstanding,” said Swift.
