Galena, IL (6/4/2014) - This past weekend the AMA ATV PRO National MX Championship took to defending champion, Chad Wienen's homestate at Sunset Ridge MX and for the first time in the 2014 season, the Wienen Motorsports team went 1-2 for the weekend and Thomas Brown took his first overall win of the year.
"I'm so thrilled to not only get my first win of the year but to get my first podium finish. I've had a rough start to the season but now that I've gotten my first overall of the year I'm looking to be up on the box alot more this season. I can't thank all of my sponsors enough for supporting me and helping me get up to the top spot this past weekend!" said Brown.

In moto 1 the Wienen Motorsports duo both came out of the holeshot mid field and had to work their way up to the front. Wienen was able to make passes to find the front of the field before halfway through the moto and took the checkers first. Brown was also able to make quick work of the field and passed for the second place position during the fifth lap of racing and held onto the second place position until the end of the moto. "I was really happy about my first moto finish and to grab second place overall for the weekend but most of all I'm excited to be coming out of the weekend with a 28 point lead in the championship chase. I'm very proud of the entire Wienen Motorsports team it was a big weekend to go 1-2 in my homestate we had a lot of family and friends come down to support the team and I can't thank them and our sponsors enough." said Wienen.
As the gate dropped in moto 2, both Wienen Motorsports riders were found inside the top five and by the end of the first lap, Brown sat in the third place position and Wienen was less than a second behind Brown in fourth. Brown was able to move into the second place position by halfway through the moto and began his charge on the front-runner. Determined to get his first win of the year, Brown was finally able to make a pass with only a few turns left in the last lap and took his first place checkers of the 2014 season and took his first overall for the season as well after going 2-1 for the day. Wienen was able to climb his way into the third place position but was unable to make any more advances on the field before the end of the moto. Wienen went 1-3 for the day to take second overall and extended his points lead to 28 points.

Wienen Motorsports Pro-Am rider Nick Gennusa went 10-4 for the weekend for a ninth place finish overall for the weekend. In moto 1, Gennusa got off to a bad start checking in the thirteenth position after the first lap. He was only able to make a few passes on the field but was able to climb up to a tenth place finish before the end of the moto. Moto 2, Gennusa got a top ten start out of the first turn and was able to make some quick passes to get farther up in the field. Gennusa settled into the fourth place position by the third lap and stayed in fourth until the checkers flew.
The series well continue June 14 at a new track to the series, Briarcliff MX in Nashport, Ohio for Round 5.
