Las Vegas, NV (5/5/2014) - Three time Pro ATV Champions, Danny Prather and David Scott took on the tough conditions at the 2014 Best in The Desert (BITD) Silver State 300 and claimed another win, while new comers, Jose Torres and Jeremy Gray claimed second and solo racer Cody Mitchell rounded out the BITD Pro ATV Podium in third.
The competition really heated up for this round of the BITD, quite literally, with temps reaching the 100+ degree mark out on the course. The course was a dry, dusty loop that was 297 miles long. The race started in Alamo, NV, with the contingency at the Aliante Casino and Resort in North Las Vegas. During the morning, still conditions caused some dust, which made visibility difficult as riders headed east into the rising sun. As the day progressed, the breeze did pick up and visibility was no longer an issue.

There was a pre-dawn 5:30 am start time. The pro motorcycles were first off the start, and then the Pro ATV’s as daylight was just about to break. With more than 200 total entries, it took over an hour for all racers to leave the start.

The Q1 team of 3x champs, Danny Prather and David Scott were the last to leave the line in the Pro ATV class with Danny Prather being the first to pilot their Honda TRX 450R. “It was a super dusty course with lots of silt, and there was no breeze so the dust just kind of hung there in the morning, and with the sunlight, it made it pretty difficult to see,” said Prather.

Prather did not let the conditions get to him however, and began picking off the competition. “I kind of took it easy the first 50 miles and picked off a couple people. I was in second when I pulled into the pit stop and handed the quad over to David,” Prather stated.
