BITD Silver State 150 UTV Race
Report
::Continued::
Isac proved his victory in the UTV World Championship
wasn’t a fluke as he scored the final spot on
the podium here in his Yamaha. The YXZ 1000 continues
to prove itself in desert racing.

Motorsports' Andrei Isac finished less than
a minute behind Vanbeekum in the third spot |
“The dust kept us from going faster, but we never
had an issue,” said Isac. “The Yamaha is great.
The engine and transmission are unbelievable in
these cars. We keep running the same engine over
and over without doing anything to it. The race
was awesome, the track was unbelievably good,
and the car ran great.”
Kaden Wells, with brother and co-driver Corbin
Wells, had the lead for the first 30 miles before
they lost track of the course. Quickly backtracking,
they got back on the course. The fourth-place
finish moves them into the lead in points with
just two races left in the season.

Racing's Kaden & Corbin Wells took over
the Pro Production UTV points lead with
their 4th place finish at the Silver State
150 |
“We pulled the holeshot and held the lead for
the first 30 miles,” said Kaden Wells. “We got
passed, and we lost the track a couple of times.
The track was really rocky. It’s pretty cool to
take the points lead. We’ve never led the points
before.”

Racing's Malcolm Sneed secured the Pro Unlimited
UTV Class Win |
In the Sportsman Class, sister and brother team
Lexi and Aspen Chournos teamed up to score their
first BITD victory. It marked Lexi Chournos’ first
desert race. Lexi started the race and Aspen finished
it up, passing several cars and taking the lead
just a tenth of a mile from the finish.

& Lexi Chournos teamed up for their
first BITD race & the brother &
sister combo secured the Sportsman class
win in their debut |
“We were second off the line,” said Lexi Chournos.
“It was dusty and rough which is a lot different
than I’m used to. We passed a couple of people,
but we didn’t see a lot of cars for most of the
race.”
Once Aspen took the wheel after pit two, things
changed in a hurry. He overcame the rocky terrain
and made several passes to come home first.
“Right out of pit two it got really rough,” said
Aspen Chournos. “There were a lot of rocks and
ups and downs, as well as a lot of wash outs from
the rain. We made six passes in 60 miles and two
or three times we were hanging in their dust for
10 miles or more. It was a lot of fun.”
The next race for the Best in the Desert Series
is the Tonopah 250. The race is being held in
Tonopah, NV October 19-21.
