(3/29/2014) – Chris Borich
made history at round three of the GNCC Racing
series by setting the all time win record
with his 69th win at the Steele Creek GNCC
in North Carolina. Rounding out the GNCC Racing
pro podium was Jarrod McClure and Adam McGill.

Although inclement weather delayed the afternoon
race, it would not stop Chris Borich from
making his way through the pro field to win
his second race of the season to take sole
control of the GNCC Racing pro points lead.

The Steele Creek GNCC has seen its fair share
of racing action with is long history of XC
racing at this location. Last year, Chris
Borich was the top finisher in the pro class
and was on his way to his 5th consecutive
GNCC Pro Class Championship. This year, Chris
Borich not only won the Steele Creek GNCC,
but he also broke the all-time win previously
held by Barry Hawk of 68 total wins.

“I never knew where I was winning wise, and it’s a big monkey off my back. I am really looking forward to the rest of the season,” stated Chris Borich of his record setting 69 total wins

Chris Borich had a mid pack start, and in true “Borich-like” fashion gradually worked his way up toward the front of the pack. By the end of lap one, Borich had made his way into fourth place and continued to charge forward, and by the third lap, Chris Borich took over the lead. It wasn’t easy for Borich as he felt the pressure from Jarrod McClure down to the finish.

“Jarrod McClure was keeping my honest
the whole time and he stayed right with me.
He ended up passing me on the last lap and
I ended up blitzing a line, and I got back
by him. Then from there, we just brought her
in,” explained Chris Borich of his record
breaking win
