2014 GNCC Racing Series Round #13 - Ironman GNCC Crawfordsville, IN October 15, 2014

Crawfordsville, IN (10/28/2014) -The final round of the 2014 GNCC's inaugural Pro 4x4 class was action packed as Kevin Trantham battled his way to the win while Bryan Buckhannon's second place finish clenched the championship.

The Ironman round of the series always brings a huge turnout for all classes, and this year was no exception as over 500 racers signed up for the morning classes to try their luck. The course was well laid out with the typical open fields, tight trails, water crossings and hill climbs; the perfect setting for the Pro 4x4 class to battle it out.

The battle between Can-Am's top two racers, Kevin Trantham and Bryan Buckhannon had been fierce all season, with the points advantage going to Buckhannon heading into the final round. Kevin Trantham, however was ready to make a statement at the Ironman.

Kevin Trantham, #203, charged off the start with fellow Can-Am racer, Robert Smith, close behind. “I had a really good start. Robert was right behind me and we were going pretty good, but by the second lap, there were so many people out there that we were already running into lappers so that slowed us up a bit and let Bryan (Buckhannon) catch up,” said Trantham.

From that point, the battle raged as the trio swapped positions many times over the course of the four lap race. “We were having a great time out there. There were a lot of bottlenecks and lap traffic so one of us would get out front, then the other. We went back and forth like that for the whole race and I was the one who was able to get out front at the end and take the win,” explained Trantham.

Trantham had a solid season and claimed four class wins, which earned him second place in championship points. “It's been a great season for us. The competition has been great all season long and I am pretty happy with how it has gone for us. I'm looking forward to coming back next season and taking the championship,” said Trantham.
