Kinston,
NC – The Hellbound Racing
New East Extreme Dirt Track Series Round one took
place this past weekend at Ironclad Motorsports
in Kinston, North Carolina. At one of the
East Coast’s favorite ATV TT tracks and with
temperatures in the 80’s, a slight breeze
and sunny skies the stage was set for a great weekend
of racing.
There where 174 race entries on hand, which meant the classes were filled and there was going to be a lot of great bar-to-bar racing taking place on one of the seasons first can’t miss East Coast ATV TT events.
As the heats and qualifiers came to a close the fans and racers were entertained with the pit bikes that came to the line. It was ESJ’s own Eric Jennings who put on a show as he swapped leads throughout the race and on the last lap coming up on the last straightaway section he laid down the throttle and out jumped the leader over the table top and motored his way to an exciting pit bike finish taking the win.

This closed out the heats and set the stage for the start of the mains, as there was a nice blue groove laid down as the sun started to drop below the horizon as the main events were up next.
Shortly after the 35+ class race had ended the Pro-am riders came to the line. With 24 entries, and only 20 spots on the gate, that meant some very fast riders were sitting in the stands as some of the countries fastest ATV TT riders came to the line. The top qualifiers were the AE3 pilot Andrew Evanyke, Chuckie Creech of CCR, Kris Bures of Tru-Way Racing, and the Maul Tech sponsored rider Mike Houghton of Newfane, NY grabbing their first picks for this race as they lined up.

As the light turned green it was the #25 pilot Chuckie Creech who grabbed the early lead followed closely by Evanyke, Aaron Medlin, Brad Riley, Brian Ace, Mike Houghton, and the rest of the pack.

It did not take long but Andrew Evanyke took over the number one spot which put the number two spot up for grabs as you could throw a blanket over the top seven riders as the race progressed. As the laps started to dwindle the top riders moved into two packs as Jason Fisher, Andrew Ace, and Mark Blystone lead the second pack of riders as the front seven started pulling away from the pack.
As the final laps were coming to a close there was a heated battle for the second spot leaving Evanyke to pull away from the crowd to hold his lead while Creech and Riley fought for the number two spot.

leads Brad Riley into the final few turns
before the finish. Riley would make the
pass stick to earn second with Creech
finishing closely in third
|
As the white flag came out it was Evanyke in the lead followed by Creech and Riley. Riley on the last lap made a hard pass and moved just ahead of Creech to claim second place, which moved Creech into the third place to claim the last spot on the podium.
