Hurricane, UT (4/26/2016) – Team
Bradco’s Cody Bradbury blasted the competition at
Sand Hollow State Park by claiming both the Pro
and Pro Unlimited at the fifth round of racing for
the Pro SXS racers. Bradbury came out atop a last-lap
five-car sprint to notch his first ever Pro Class
win, ahead of Matt Hancock, David Haagsma, Ryan
Piplic and Keith Johnson. SxS Pro Points leader
Mickey Thomas was sidelined by a mechanical issue
on the first lap.

With winds gusting up to 50 mph, race organizers
nearly canceled the race due to course markers
getting buried and blown away. In addition, heavy
rains the week prior caused the nine-mile course
to rut up quickly. In the end, the carnage was
high, but Bradbury was the man to beat.
In the Pro Class race, Ryan Piplic and Cody Bradbury
battled in the top two spots early in the event
as the pair began driving away from the field.
That all changed on the final lap when the field
was bunched up behind a broken down car and the
sprint was on. Hancock took the lead with Bradbury
in tow. They ran side by side down one of the
track’s dunes when Bradbury struck, making a daring
move for the lead and the victory, which also
boosted Bradbury into the points lead with Thomas
suffering a DNS.

for the early lead in the Pro SxS race |
“I came out seventh at the start, but I chose
a different line,” explained Bradbury. “The top
five guys went right, I went left and I got to
second. I got past Piplic and we battled back
and forth. We both pushed each other and we broke
away pretty well. Then we came up on a broken
down car and everyone caught back up.

Cody Bradbury Takes his First SxS Pro Win,
which also boosted him into the points lead
heading into the final 3 rounds of racing |
“Hancock got by me on the downhill, I just held
it wide and it stuck,” added Bradbury. “I jumped
down to the bottom of the canyon and I got the
win. This has been a long time coming. I’ve been
fast, but just stuff happened that wouldn’t let
me get the win.”
Pro Motorsports’ Matthew Hancock was pleased
with his first Pro podium finish. He was amazed
that Bradbury made his move stick at the end of
the final lap to take the lead, but Hancock held
on to claim the second spot on the podium and
gained some valuable points, which has him fifth
in the points battle.

SXS rookie, Matthew Hancock, secures his
first Pro SxS class podium with a 2nd place
finish at Sand Hollow |
“I was sitting on the starting line thinking
seven people could win this race,” said Hancock.
“I moved up to third and we all bottled up behind
a broken down car. So the whole race started over
from there. Cody had an awesome pass, but it was
pretty sketchy. He and I both went sideways and
he made it stick. I looked at the scoring and
I saw that the top guys were all within a minute
of each other. That’s pretty intense with the
level of drivers here. I’m pumped at how far we’ve
come.”
