Glen Helen WORCS Pro SXS Race
Report
::Continued::
Hancock has had a difficult relationship with
Glen Helen. His luck changed during the weekend.
Running a naturally aspirated car in a class that
allows turbocharging, Hancock was still highly
competitive during the race, especially in the
tighter sections.

Matt
Hancock finished in the 2nd spot, which
currently has him 4th in points in the Pro
SXS Class |
“It was an awesome weekend,” said Hancock. “We’re
running an NA car among all of these turbos. I
got pulled up the hill, but I was able to pick
these guys off in the tight stuff. The guys built
me an awesome car. I had to come out strong this
weekend in both classes. It was a win or wad situation.
I had to get on the podium and get those points.
We now have a shot at the podium in both championships.”
Granlund started on the second row, but was quickly
moving forward. Despite suffering a crash early
in the event, he rebounded to cross the line second.

/ GBC's Nic Granlund grabbed the holeshot
from the 2nd row & with time adjustment
he finished in the 2nd spot on the podium |
“I had a good run in stock yesterday, so my setup
is exactly the same,” said Granlund. “I got a
good start, came around on the first lap and got
rear ended. I got going again and I was feeling
a lot better as the track dried out.”
Haagsma drove like he was running for a championship.
Employing a conservative strategy he gained ground
in points going into next month’s season finale.
Haagsma was also driving a non-turbo car.

Haagsma finished in the 3rd spot, which
has him with a comfortable points lead heading
into the final round of the season |
“We’re just focusing on the championship,” said
Haagsma. “We’re staying low key and staying out
of trouble. I was fifth off the start and had
some battles with Romo. Once I realized that Ryan
had an issue, I knew that points wise we just
needed to finish the race and not do anything
stupid. I’m still happy with the finish and gaining
some points going into the last round.”
Romo likely had the fastest car on the track
during the waning laps, but his two foot driving
style kept sending his RZR into limp mode, which
kept him off the podium. He had passed Haagsma
and was battling Hancock, but his car kept shutting
off, moving him back.

Romo finished in the 4th spot |
“I think I was riding the brake and the gas a
little too much,” explained Romo. “I reset it
six times. If you ride the brake and gas too much
it’s a setting that throws it into limp mode,
but I found out there is a switch out there to
deal with it, which I will install before the
next race. I was definitely in the top three.
To be anywhere close to the top five with these
guys is amazing. You’re dealing with the best
of the best in the country.”
