Steering the big machine around is an easy
chore, even without the luxury of power steering.
My wife likes to comment that you steer the
Brute with the throttle and to a point she is
correct. A quick stab of the gas will bring
the rear end around in a hurry. The CVT style
belt driven transmission makes riding the machine
a snap, especially for those riders without
much experience, gas and go! Braking is decent
and the electronic engine braking works very
well when steep descents are tackled. With selectable
2wd/4whd, high and low speed forward gears and
reverse, the Brute stands ready to take on pretty
much what ever you’re willing to tackle.

The
Brute Force features IRS with 7.9"
of wheel travel |
The suspension is of dual arm design up front
featuring 6.7 inches of wheel travel and an IRS
set up in the rear boasting 7.9 inches of travel.
While it works well we found some under steer
with the stock tires as well as a fair amount
of body roll. Under typical trail riding and chore
usage, this will be negligible, however when you
increase the speeds you should know how the suspension
will react. The machine is very predictable and
a stiffer set of tires helps tremendously with
both roll and control.

The
Wheels even feature the Advantage®
MAX-1 HD™ camo |
Cosmetics on this special edition unit are
what set this particular model apart. The Advantage®
MAX-1 HD™ camo graced this model from
head to toe and should make hunters happy as
almost every area is covered in the camo pattern.
The only items not covered are the silver brake
levers! The rims get a lot of attention as they
are covered as well and the hydrographic process
is really durable to withstand the rigors of
typical ATV use. While it is illegal to hunt
from an ATV in most states, keeping eyes off
your machine when it’s parked in your
hunting area will suit this model well. It is
easily hidden as you slip off to your favorite
spot.
The one item I would like to see changed on
this NRA Edition model is the exhaust noise.
Sneaking into your hunting area is hard enough
without spooking game in the area or bringing
attention to yourself and machine from other
hunters in the vicinity. The big engine makes
power, but the exhaust note is a touch high
for those thinking they can slip into an area
undetected. Other then that, we used this model
for several days on a recent dove hunt where
the machine was parked beside a corn field and
the doves paid it no attention. That’s
a testament to how well the camo works as doves
tend to flair off at the slightest change in
the fields they call home. When the doves stopped
flying we were off checking on deer stands for
the upcoming fall season and our machine fit
right in as we hauled in new stands and materials
to prepare others for one more season.

Our time with this NRA Edition Brute Force
will soon come to an end, and it will be missed.
Somehow the brightly colored utilities we usually
run will seem out of place in the field as we
have taken a liking to the Brute. It fits in
well with our hunting and fishing lifestyle
and lets everyone know where we stand as the
NRA Outdoors decals make their statement. If
you get a chance, throw a leg over a Brute Force
near you and see for yourself how far these
machines have come!
