Alabama (3/18/2014) - Josh Creamer has been a top contender in the ATV Motocross Racing series and has also notched a Pro ATV Motocross Championship on his belt in 2010 as well as numerous NEATV-MX Pro & Pro-Am Championships throughout the years.
Josh Creamer finished third overall in the Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross Series Championship in 2013 aboard his BCS Performance / Can-Am DS450. For the 2014 racing season, Josh Creamer is once again competing for the Pro ATV Motocross Championship and has kept many of the same sponsors as last year.
We
had a chance to catch up with Josh Creamer
while he was training at former Pro ATV Motocross
Racer's, Keith Little, practice track in Alabama.
ATVriders.com:
What have you been doing over the Winter?
Josh Creamer: Over the Winter, it’s been pretty active. I had my knee surgery back in September, and then I’ve just been trying to recover from that. It was a little easier this time than it was the first time, but an ACL reconstruction is a pretty serious deal. They usually say six months minimum to a full recovery, and I’ve just been biding my time. I got down here to Keith Little’s place in Alabama in the middle of January and revamped his track and just been trying to put in some motos and get into shape and get this knee back in shape and hopefully get ready for the season.

Josh Creamer & his 150" Class buck. Creamer hopes to harvest one this size at CEWO |
ATVriders.com:
Besides getting ready and training, we did
some hunting in Ohio and you did some hunting
in Maryland too.
Josh
Creamer:
Yeah,
after I had the knee surgery there isn't a
whole lot you can do, so I put myself in the
woods and spent a lot of time in the woods
and a lot of time in a tree. I harvested quite
a few deer this year and got a really nice
buck down in Maryland that was a 150” class
deer and that’s the biggest whitetail I’ve
taken to date now.
Then I also went out with Close
Encounters Whitetail Outfitters out in
Ohio with the owner Eric Ashcraft, we tried
to put a slammer on the ground, but we just
ran out of luck there. They are pretty strict
on what size deer they take and we saw a lot
of nice deer, but hopefully this next coming
hunting season, maybe I’ll get lucky up there
this time.
ATVriders.com: How’s your race program this year as compared to last year?
Josh Creamer:
The race program is pretty much the same as last year. We kept pretty much everybody the same. We are still using the ITP tires, I actually just got done doing a test yesterday, and we’ve been working on some stuff and trying to make stuff better. We are also still on the Walsh Racecraft suspension components. Mike (Walsh) is always striving to be better, and we are still running FOX shocks as well. The only thing that’s different is Jay, from BCS Performance, put in a lot of time in the off season and figured out a way to get the front end a little better. We got some custom spindles which got rid of all of our camber gain, and so it should keep the front end a lot more stable throughout the race, so we’re pretty much on a whole new front end this year. We are really looking forward to seeing if it works for us out on the race track.

ATVriders.com: How is your training down there at Keith Little’s track? I know he’s got a nice track and you’ve done some work on it too.
Josh Creamer:
Yeah training is tough, I got down here mid January and I shipped my dozer and equipment down here because I knew the track needed some work. I’ll tell you, day one when I pulled in, I thought I got in over my head. I didn’t know there was even a motocross track still out here, but leave it up to the Cat dozer and skid-steer, I’ve got the job done and the track revamped. I’ve been hitting it as hard as I’ve been able to, the weather has been quite a big factor this year and we’ve had a Winter down here actually. We’ve got a lot of snow and a lot of rain and the conditions haven’t been ideal for solid motos all the time, but like I’ve said, I’ve been making hay when the sun shines, and I feel one hundred times better than when I got down here. I know I don’t think I’ll be one hundred percent at the first race, but I should be able to pull off a ninety percent or so and hopefully get myself up on the podium.

Josh Creamer throws out a whip on his Can-Am DS 450 |
ATVriders.com:
Thinking about that, the Nationals are coming up here in just a couple of weeks, are you ready?
Josh Creamer: Yeah, it’s coming fast. Am I one hundred percent ready? No. I just haven’t had the amount of time I would have liked to have had. I’ve only been back on the bike now for just over a month. I’ve been kind of tip-toeing into training and I’m still kind of cautious around my knee, and I don’t want to have any issues with it so I’m just trying not to over-do stuff too much. Definitely hitting it hard you know and I should be able to be pretty good for the first round, that’s for sure.
