...who thinks it's utterly ridiculous?
Growing up in the late 70's 80's I got to see rap get it's start and with it beatboxing. Back then it was a novelty, but not much of anything else to me. As of lately I've happened across quite a few videos (http://www.wimp.com/beatboxchampionship/) with people proclaiming themselves to be awesome (or by others) and I just don't get it. I mean, it's cool for a second or two, but nothing woth mentioning (sans this post). Am I just showing my age? What do you all think of this?
This next chick has 600k in views alone!:

I don't think she's that great. I had a buddy a few years back that was 10 times better.

You just don't understand the hip hop culture.
It's the same way how I think being proud of being a rednick/hick/hillbilly is utterly ridiculous.

I fault no one for being proud of their heritage, no matter what it is, and although I'm removed from hip hop culture, it doesn't mean I don't understand it. I grew up very culturally diverse.

I'm amazed by it in a novelty type way. Just like the first time you ride a pitbike with a good suspension. Its awesome, but still not worth dumping a ton of money into if you don't even have a real bike. same thing - novelty.

Yeah, but pit bikes are a lot more fun than beat boxing.

No doubt. Doesn't take as much time to figure out how to do it either.
