i just ordered my piston in an 10.8-1 size because i dont run race gas, will this make me loose power over stock?

No it wont make you loose power, it should give you some power because the stock compression on a 400EX is 9-1. So theres your answer.

A 10.8 will definately give you a gain in power. The compression is where the power comes from, so if stock is like 9.2:1, then the 10.8:1 is a definate increase. I am gunna run a JE 10.8 piston if I do a 416.

thanks i thought so, do you think with the 416 i will need a need clutch basket??? i still have stock

I would recommend doing a clutch and basket, if not right away, soon after the kit is installed. Even if you just got better springs and plates, i think that would be sufficient.

between $100 and $175. Check out sparks racing, they have a plate and spring kit for $139. Sparks clutch (http://sparksracing.com/Sparks_Frame_1.htm)
Click on 400ex and then clutch.
