360 backflip pulled off!!! ~(x-games)~

wasn't ready for it at all, but the MM brain deegan pulled the first 360 backflip at the x games here in LA.......it was the craziest thing i have ever seen!!!

pastrana pulled it too!!! he came home the win though!!!

this year travis pastrana and brian deegan were doing 360 backflips... which means not only were they doing a backflip they were also rotating 360 degrees on axis.

It's good to see Deegan stepping up. He had a bad crash last year in Bako for the X-Games qualifiers. Overshot the jump and under rotated the backflip..

It sucks that Metzger pulled out. Must have been some wreck at Disney last week...

Damn, I was just reading some of the highlights. Nate pulled a backflip heelclicker over the 75 footer, Deegan pulled a backflip off the 75 footer, Pastrana tried the backy-360 twice and only landed it once, Deegan's 'Mulisha Twist' was a good minute after the horn sounded, and Pastrana's (the one he landed) was after the horn. The horn sounded, he tried it and fell on the landing, then he got up and hit the jump again and nailed it. IMO, it shouldn't have counted either..

no its actually one big ramp for them to do the 360s off of. it wasnt a 360 flip it was a 360. a 360 flip is actually like a flip and then a 360, if you were watching bmx dirt, steven murray did one in his final run. trav and deegan did more of a inverted 360. its coming on tv tonight at 7 eastern on abc be sure to watch

looks like a little more then a 360 to me. he took off just like nyquist does on dirt bmx. flips hard and twists harder to the left of the bike. he's obviously upside down in the pics and the bike does a 360 twist while inverted. how can that be called just a 360??? actually the more and more i look at it, it looks like a corkscrew flair... more like a barrel role! who knows... its more then a 360 for sure :cool:

The whole X-Games scoring system is screwed up. When the final buzzer sounds that should be it unless you're climbing a ramp in which case it's too late to bail. But this crap about if you're going up the main drop-in ramp it counts as if you're attacking a trick is bogus. They should just kill it there. Adams had the best overall run out of all of them. Deegan's 360 had a sketchy landing and Pastrana's 2nd 360 was a lot smoother. I think the big backflip from the first jump pushed Pastrana past the others.

personally i think travis was the smoothest doin the flips all though he didn't click his heels... he also does all the other tricks the smoothest... nate adams was very close but hes just not 100% like travis...


deegan just got **** lucky thats all i can say... all the rest of his tricks weren't even smooth... the other people where better besides his 300 yes 300 no 360 ... he didn't even rotate the whole way... hes not nearly as good..

It was just a 360. The kicker is wide because the bikes have to spin off of their back tire instead of their front tire like BMX does. They basically do a super fat whip and kick the back end over and then they turn the front end back down into the landing. Yes, they are upside down but they don't do a back flip. Trust me, I saw Pastrana doing the 360 backflip into a foam pit on his 110 and it's friggin sick dude. Infact, Pastrana said it would probably be another year or 2 before he does the 360 backflip.

Also, Pastrana's 360 didn't count for his standing. Yes, Deegan did a 360 and didn't win, but he didn't land it real good and that does count against him even though the trick was insane. Pastrana won it because of him doing the back flip on the 85 footer right off the bat and then doing 2 or 3 more backflip combinations after it and the other awesome tricks he did and their flawless landings.

And Pastrana doing a gay thumbs up? Thats retarded. Why is it gay for him to be as excited and happy as he is after he has a good run? He's one of the craziest guys in motorsports and he deserves every win and he performs for the crowds and to have a good time. IMO, more athletes should be like that.

Also, I don't want to offend anyone, but it would just hurt the quad guys to go out there w/ the bikes. The quad guys just can't perform on the same level as the bikes, and people that don't know that it's harder to move a quad around will just look down on quads and think less of them.

deegan started the sport and is still leading the way hes alot older and alot bigger than some of these lil guys so the tricks arent as easy because the bike moves around alot more, the metal mulisha owns freestyle

oh god ...what are u guys talking about pastranas run sucked if u ask me....i was waiting for him to get going and he didnt do chit compared to deegan and adams, and i thought deegan actually had the best run, his tricks werent as big as nate adams but they were smooth and he threw in the 360 and landed it unlike pastrana, deegan should of won because he did a decent run and threw in a new trick no one else landed, 2nd should of been nate adams and pastrana last, pastrana was the least smooth if u ask me plus he crashed, wtf :confused:

Either way, all you guys hating on Travis for winning need to remember that it was the judges that said Pastrana won, so they should be the ones you get mad at. But all of those guys are the worlds best and are flat out insane and I wouldn't want to be one of the guys having the tough job of trying to decide which one is better... they are all awesome.

last year metz didnt do as good of a run as deegan but he did the flip and won because it was a new trick deegan does the 360 which is harder than a flip and gets bronze, if they went more by the total run nate adams should of had it he was the smoothest and had the best tricks and he didnt crash, just judging by there runs i would give deegan silver because he landed first 360 ever did a ok run held his tricks for awhile, id give adams 1st because he was awesome and all of his tricks were big and super smooth, i expected more from pastrana after all his talk about barrel rolls and rodeo flips at x and he ended up crashing on his last trick...and when he landed the 360 it should not of counted it was way after, his crash should of been his last trick

i dont think pastranas 80ft backflip was as good, its old new metz did it last year, deegan did something totally new and landed it even though it was sketchy

nates run did rule. technically yeah i think he shoulda won. pastrana's run WAS smoother than deegans plus he had bigger tricks than deegan but then again he crashed. the crash was after the timer tho i think. so was the second 360. so really i think the judges DID NOT count any of the 3 360's thrown that night. they just liked pastranas run the best. it was a damn good run but i think nates was better. but it was so close its not really worth arguing about.

yeah now that ive actually seen it on tv i think it was more of what you guys were saying. it doesnt matter cuz the final order should have been-nate,deegan,and pastrana. trick for trick nates run was so much better than deegans or pastranas. i mean pastranas biggest trick was like a ruler which is awesome but the rest of his tricks were really lacking, that cliffhanger thing that he did in both final and prelims was rediculous(sp) he brought back that gay 1 handed lazy boy , trav didnt get his heels together in the backy clicker,nate did. true pastranas flips were awesome but nate did so many smooth tricks and flips and also flipped the 85 foot comp ramp while no footing. pastrana and deegan both flipped it to but didnt throw a variation/ pastranas first 360 was in the time but he wrecked deegan i thought actually had a better run than trav. his 3 was also after time to. but hell what do i know i guess wonderboy hasta win:confused: mark my words nate was screwed.

im not a deegan worshiper i dont really like him as a rider that much but trick for trick his run was overall better than pastranas imo. but it doesnt matter cuz nate should have smoked both of their arses with his run. and you also mentioned that pastrana was a real rider for his flip variations and he is without a doubt a great moto rider but his tricks arent that great and he wouldnt have made finals if it wasnt for the flip. nate,bamberg,kenny,drake and kinnaird etc all have better tricks than pastrana. its just coming down to that flip.pastrana was the best rider of the xgames but not the best freestyler.:ermm:

metzger's sponsor ecc is my local honda shop. they have like pictures up of him with little word bubbles to like buy 50 handle bars and like a bike that he rode.

i was upset when they showed his wreck and were talking to him, saying he wasn't going to be in it.

what i think isn't fair about the whole thing is they judge a lot of it on one trick, i think kenny bartram said he doesn't even like the backflip but you have to do it nowadays...
