Las Vegas, NV (8/20/2015) -
CT Racing’s Danny Prather was injured
in a serious crash and David Scott rebounded
to put in a sixth-place showing in the Best
in the Desert General Tire “Vegas to Reno”
Quad Pro race in Nevada on a brand new Honda
built just for this race.
The grueling 545-mile race was run over the desert between Beatty, NV just outside Las Vegas to Carson City, just south of Reno and is considered to be the longest off-road race in America. This year’s course was a toughest Vegas to Reno course in years, and the Dust proved to be the biggest challenge to many of the racers and ultimately caused Danny Prathers serious wreck late in the race while in the hunt for the win.
In fact, a silt bed ended Prather’s charge to the front. The veteran racer, while attempting to retake the lead in the middle stages of the event hit a wash and crashed, suffering a broken wrist, a broken rib, a bruised hip and a concussion.
“I’m so bummed,” exclaimed Prather. “We worked so hard coming into this race to go for a win. I can't thank everyone involved and our sponsors enough for all their support! We gave it our best shot. I committed like a NASCAR driver going through a wreck. This was a big mistake because I hit a huge washout and a three-foot wall. I tried to skip across, nailed it and got pitched fully sideways in the air. I landed back left tire first and was pitched into an area with big bowling ball sized rocks. I’m glad it wasn't worse, and I'm so thankful to be home with my family!”

Prather limped the damaged quad into the
pits. Quick work by the team got the ATV running
again and Scott rode it to the finish. Unfortunately,
the multi-time and defending champions are
effectively eliminated from continuing their
championship winning streak.
“I just didn’t want to do anything stupid,” said Scott. “I just wanted to finish the race. Danny was going to run to Pit 13 and then I was going to take over to the finish. We lost the lead in the pits. He was running hard to try to make up the time. Obviously he went down hard. So we did finish, but this really ruined our hopes of winning a championship.”

With the championship all but decided, Prather said he plans to return to competition at the next BITD race in December looking for victory.
“I want to make sure the Hancock brothers don’t have all of the fun this year,” said Prather. “We’re going for the win in Henderson, no doubt.
The next round of the Best in the Desert ATV series is the Henderson 250 December 5-6th, where the CT Racing team will be going for the win.
