Haagsma & Baron 1-2 at Glen Helen Quad X Round 5
David Haagsma Wins Third Quad X Pro ATV Championship

Bakersfield, CA (7/29/2015) - Maxxis / H&M Motorsports teammates David Haagsma and Beau Baron put exclamation points on their dominant seasons finishing one-two in both the ATV and UTV races Saturday during the season finale of the STI Quad X Racing Series at Glen Helen.  With the ATV win, Haagsma netted his third championship, after clinching the UTV title at the previous round.

Haagsma grabbed the holeshot in both ATV motos with Baron in tow, leading every lap of both motos for the overall victory.

“It was a perfect weekend of racing,” said Haagsma. “I got the holeshot at the start of the first moto. I got a nice gap and ran my own race. I never really had to make a move, and I got the win. I got a great jump at the start of the second moto. I made a little mistake, but held off Beau to win the second one as well. The Maxxis tires really hooked up, and the Sparks motor really helped with the holeshots. Also, the Elka suspension was working great as always.

“It feels good to get my third championship,” added Haagsma. “It was nice to give this championship to my sponsors. It was nice to finish up in the summer. It definitely kept everyone interested. It was a lot easier to make the races.”

Baron dogged Haagsma during both events, but couldn’t make a pass stick, settling for second in both ATV motos for an overall second-place finish. Baron finished third in the title chase, despite missing the season opener.

“I got off to a second-place start in the first moto and that’s pretty much where I stayed,” said Baron. “I put a lot of pressure on Haagsma during the race, but finished second. In the second moto, I nearly had Haagsma, but I made a mistake and let him get away from me.”

In the UTV portion of the weekend, both Haagsma and Baron were consistently at the top of the leaderboard. Haagsma claimed his fourth straight overall win, putting the cherry on to of his UTV Pro title, while Baron finished second overall.

“The Maxxis Tires made all the difference today,” said Haagsma, whose consistency paid off in both motos. “I literally led from start to finish in both motos.”

Baron was second in both motos, making for an almost carbon copy of the ATV race. In fact, Baron equaled his ATV Championship result in UTV competition, finishing third in points.

“This was a really nice effort this season,” said Barron, who for the second consecutive race ran a bone stock Polaris. “That was pretty sweet to be able to finish second in both motos with a stock Polaris. It says a lot about the RZR. It’s pretty competitive right out of the box.”

Baron also got to check Polaris’s new UTV lineup at the event. “The new Polaris Turbo is pretty sweet,” said Baron. “I got to drive that thing a couple weeks ago in the desert and it was awesome.”

With the Quad X season in the history books, the H&M Motorsports Team prepares to head to Washington state this weekend for the seventh rounds of the WORCS series with David Haagsma and Beau Baron in tight battle for the WORCS Pro ATV championship.
