Bakersfield, CA (8/5/2015)
- H&M Motorsports netted three victories
and six combined podium finishes at Round
7 of the 2015 WORCS series held at Straddleline
ORV Park in Olympia, WA. David Haagsma won
both Pro ATV Races and the WORCS X Pro SxS
event, while Beau Baron was second in both
ATV races and earned another runner-up effort
in the Side by Side Pro race.
This weekend’s race featured two points paying
races for the pros with a special WORCS X
round of racing held Saturday evening on a
special Enduro-Cross course with tires, jumps,
logs, and mud to challenge the racers in front
of a large crowd of spectators.

H&M Motorsports' David Haagsma & Beau Baron went 1-2 in the WORCS X event |
In the WORCS X Pro ATV race, Haagsma snagged
the holeshot at the start of Saturday’s ATV
race and was never seriously challenged, leading
all four laps of the event. “Everything was
working great on the Elka/Sparks Honda,” said
Haagsma of Saturday’s WORCS X race. “It was
really slick out there. Everyone was looking
for traction. But the Maxxis Tires were really
hooking up. I am glad they added this round.
It was a lot of points for such a short race,
but it worked out great.

H&M
Motorsports' David Haagsma earned the
win in the WORCS X at Straddleline |
In Sunday’s race, Haagsma battled his way
into the lead, rebounded from hitting a tree
and held off Baron for the victory, his fifth
in a row. In fact Haagsma hasn’t finished
out of the top two in every Pro ATV race this
season.
“There was a lot of action in this race,”
said Haagsma of Sunday’s race. “This is not
my forte. I am not comfortable in the trees
at all, but the bike worked great and I just
tried not to make mistakes. I thought Beau
had me, but he seemed to have a mishap and
I just cruised the final three laps. The Elka
suspension and Maxxis Tires gave us a lot
of traction through the corners that others
didn’t have. They really made a difference
in the race.”
|
Elka Suspension's David Haagsma also clinched the win in the WORCS Pro ATV Class extending his points lead over teammate Beau Baron by 10 points |
Haagsma now owns a 10-point lead going into
the next round at Glen Helen, but the title
chase is far from over. “This is going to
be a battle to the end,” explained Haagsma.
“Beau is good at every race, so I’m not comfortable
with my lead at all.”
Baron challenged Haagsma early in the WORCS
X for the Pro ATV lead, holding onto second
throughout the dusty event. “I got beat into
the first corner and I squared him up after
the log to take second,” said Baron of WORCS
X race. “I had a pretty good race going, but
David just ended up pulling away. I gave it
everything I had and that was all I could
do.

Spark's Racing's Beau Baron finished less than 10 seconds behind David Haagsma to finish second place on Sunday |
In the Pro ATV main event, Baron actually
briefly took the lead when Haagsma hit a tree,
but Haagsma quickly took back the lead and
Baron held on to second.
“I was just behind David (Haagsma), but I
got blasted in the face, I stalled my bike
and, once I got it restarted, I just couldn’t
make up the time,” said Baron of Sunday’s
event. “Once I got some clean air in second,
I had a lot of fun riding this course today.
I lost some points this weekend, which is
tough. David is getting really good at this
and the last two races are going to be tough.”
Webster’s top five in Sunday’s race was the
icing on the cake for the team. Webster struggled
with the many pine trees around the course.

Maxxis' Collins Webster rounded out the top five in the WORCS Pro Class on Sunday |
“I look forward to coming to this race, but
I felt like I was dating some of the trees
out there today,” joked Webster. “I spent
a few times in trees and that didn’t really
work out. This is not were I wanted to be,
but I’ll take it going into Glen Helen.”

Teammates David Haagsma & Beau Baron go nearly wheel-to-wheel in the holeshot during WORCS Cross on Saturday Night |
In Saturday’s Pro Side by Side WORCS Cross
race, Haagsma battled Baron during the first
lap, but took over the first spot for good
when Baron got stuck in a mud hole. Baron
bounced back in the second SXS race, finishing
second. Haagsma currently sits second in Pro
SXS points with Baron in fourth.

David Haagsma earned the win in the WORCS Cross Pro Class & finished fifth in the WORCS race on Sunday |
Round 8 of the 2015 WORCS series heads to
Glen Helen in California September 26-27th
where the H&M Motorsports team looks for
continued dominance.
