Bakersfield, CA (10/2/2015)
- Maxxis / H&M Motorsports teammates David
Haagsma and Beau Baron were again dominant over
the weekend as the pair teamed up to earn victories
and podiums at the Glen Helen WORCS. Baron claimed
his fourth Pro ATV win along with a SxS Pro
Podium finish. Haagsma claimed the SxS Pro win
and finished second in the Pro ATV class for
another dominate weekend of racing for the H&M
Motorsports Team.
In the Pro ATV race, Haagsma grabbed the
holeshot, but Baron made quick work in taking
the lead early in lap one, his first WORCS
win since he injured his shoulder at Lake
Havasu in March.

“I haven’t been here since I was hurt in
Havasu, and I feel like my fitness is finally
coming around and I’m getting comfortable
on the bike again,” said Baron. “The course
layout was pretty awesome. I love this place.
There are big elevation changes, high speed
stuff, tight windy stuff, some sand whoops,
and some rocks. It’s a good course.”

Beau Baron held off David Haagsma to
secure his fourth win of the sesaon
followed by Haagsma in the second spot |
Haagsma challenged Baron early in the race,
but a slow pit stop relegated him to the second
spot on the podium. Haagsma has yet to finish
out of the top two this season and has five
victories and four additional podiums. He
merely needs to finish on the podium in the
next race to clinch the championship.
“I got a great start, but two or three turns
in, Beau just got a better drive and took
the lead,” explained Haagsma. “It was so muddy
that it was hard to stay behind him. I pulled
in early to get some new goggles and to fill
up. We overfilled the fuel tank and it stalled
the bike. We push started it and by the time
we got going it was already too late. So we
settled for second.”
In the Side by Side race, Haagsma dominated
the race from start to finish after grabbing
the holeshot, he ran unchallenged throughout
the event to net his third WORCS Pro SxS victory
of 2015.

“The start was very important today,” said
Haagsma. “I had some banging and smashing
at the start, but I got the holeshot into
the first corner and held the inside line
into the second corner to make sure no one
got by me. I just ran my own race from there.
I had such a big gap by the end, so I was
going fast enough to win and not break the
car.”

Baron was nearly taken out on the first lap,
but charged through. He then challenged for
the second spot late in the event, but settled

“The toughest thing for me was the start…I
was a half a car length behind everyone, we
hit and I didn’t come out so hot, but luckily
I maneuvered my way up to the front,” said
Baron. “It’s good to stick it on the box today.
It was a lot of work to get these cars ready
for this round. I was still waiting for parts
last week, so I’m glad we made it and we finished
on the podium.”
Both Haagsma and Baron will return to WORCS
competition October 16-18 for the season finale
