Washington, GA (3/19/2015) - ATVriders.com
/ Jarrod McClure Racing’s (JMR) rider Jarrod McClure
secured another top ten finish this past weekend
at round two of the Grand National Cross Country
series this weekend in Washington GA coming in seventh
for the day. JMR teammate XC2 Pro Am racer Randy
Hamilton raced his way to his first podium finish
of the 2015 GNCC racing season with a third place
ride in the muddy conditions.
Rain was in the forecast for the weekend and
racers were expecting very muddy conditions for
the event. The amateur racing in the morning gave
an insight on how bad the track was going to be,
ruts began to deepen, tree roots became exposed,
and multiple lines started opening. It clearly
showed it was going to be a survival race in the
thick Georgia clay.

A good start would be crucial for todays race
and McClure came off the line with a mid pack
start. As riders made there way towards the woods
they realized how slick the track was as the bounced
off each other. McClure was unlucky enough to
get pushed into a tree going into the first woods
section sending him to the back of the pack.
“I have this new Dirtworks 24-volt start system
with Aliant lightweight batteries and it got my
Baldwin motor fired super quick and right about
where I needed to be. The track was so slick at
first, I ended up getting pushed into Bithell
and then right into a tree, so I knew it was going
to be a long day coming from behind in the mud,”
said McClure.
McClure fell in line with the XC1 Pro riders
in a train and slowly began to pick off riders.
At one point the top ten were only seconds apart.
Passing was very risky at this track with the
deep ruts and a wrong decision could end your
day. Jarrod rode just outside the top 5 all day
and at the finish had to settle for seventh.
“Man it was a tough day today the track had multiple
lines, but really there was only one good one.
You would make a pass on a rider, and then try
to get another guy and the rider you just passed
would get back around you, the whole time getting
roosted like crazy. It was very frustrating for
me out there today, but I know my setup is dialed
in this year and my fitness is better than ever
thanks to Motoprotraining, so it won’t be long
till I get back out front with the guys who rode
all winter,” said McClure.
JMR’s XC2 Pro Am racer Randy Hamilton began the
day just outside the top five but rode smart in
the muddy conditions and was able to work his
way up to third place in the challenging XC2 class
and eleventh overall for the day.
“I just rode smart all day and was really impressed
at how awesome these new DWT tires work”, said
Hamilton from atop the podium.
After two rounds of racing Jarrod McClure sits
seventh in the XC1 Pro class and his teammate
Randy Hamilton is holding down third in the Pro
Am class. The JMR team will be ready to go at
round three in two weeks at Steele Creek.
