Joel Hetrick Wins Moto One & Fastest Qualifier

Conditions were good for Saturday morning’s qualifiers and Joel Hetrick laid claim to his second consecutive ATVRiders.com Top Qualifier Award. Hetrick was ready for action and carried that speed over to moto one.

Joel Hetrick won the ATVriders.com Fastest Qualifier Award for the second time this year

After the gate dropped, Hetrick was in second place in the holeshot and began pressuring for the lead. Hetrick was unyielding in his hunt for the number one spot and after a good battle, he was able to make an aggressive pass and took the lead. Hetrick held off any counter attacks and held the lead for the rest of the moto for the win. “Moto one went great. I had a good start in second, and I made a pass for the lead and ended up first,” said Hetrick.

Joel Hetrick pushed his quad so hard in the first moto, he had to swap out the engine before moto two.

Moto two started out well for Hetrick, as he was once again in second off the start, but he encountered some issues, which caused him to fall back to fifth place in the final laps of the race. Despite the issue, Hetrick’s 1-5 finishes were more than enough to put him on the podium in third. “I was in second off the start and then fell back to fifth after I had some issues. I got third overall, and I am still holding second in points, so I am happy with that. I do have a little catching up to do, and I really have to thank everyone for sticking behind me this season. Hopefully I can get some overall wins shortly” said Hetrick.

Joel Hetrick is currently only ten points off the points lead, so he is in the hunt for the championship with fifty points up for grabs at each round of racing.

Round three of the 2015 Mt. Dew AMA ATV Motocross Championships heads to Muddy Creek in Blountville, TN on May 2-3 where Joel Hetrick will be going for the win.
