Joel Hetrick Earns Second Straight Win at RedBud MX

Seneca, PA (7/28/2015) – Hetrick Racing/Corrosion Specialties’ Joel Hetrick claimed his second straight overall win at round nine of the Mtn Dew AMA ATV Motocross National Championship held at Red Bud in Buchanan, MI. Hetrick remains in the hunt for the championship after another impressive overall win.

In the beginning of moto one, Hetrick had contact with another rider that caused him to be pushed back to around tenth place. Hetrick charged back up, and by the second lap was already back into second place. Hetrick’s blistering pace landed him the fastest lap of the moto with a 2:05.625. “I made good progress, but Chad already had a five to six second lead by the time I reached second. I closed the gap down a little bit, but I didn’t want to waste all my energy before the second moto, so I just settled in second,” said Hetrick. The smart, safe ride placed Hetrick in a great position heading into the final moto.

When the gate dropped on the second moto, Hetrick grabbed the holeshot and never looked back, dominating the entire race. “Second moto was great. The Maxxis tires hooked up, and the DASA motor ripped out of the start. I pulled the holeshot by a bike length or two. I flat landed a jump in the first lap and bent my axle pretty bad, but I just dealt with it, put my head down, and ran,” said Hetrick.

Hetrick again laid down a blistering pace, and despite the bent axle, captured the fastest lap of the moto by well over a second to take the overall win. “I’m pumped to get the overall at RedBud. I haven’t won there for a while, so it was pretty cool,” said Hetrick.

Hetrick has shown he is a dominating force this season, and plans to keep it rolling into the final round. “It’s pretty epic to have won ten motos this year, I’ve never done that before. This is by far the best season I have had. I want to keep the win streak going and finish the season strong,” said Hetrick.

Heading into season finale, Hetrick sits in second place in points. “Going into Loretta’s, I’m still fifteen points down, but anything can happen. Hopefully we can finish off the season with another 1-1, and be strong for next year,” said Hetrick. With the National Championship on the line, anticipation is high for the final race.

Round ten, the final round of the Mtn Dew AMA ATV Motocross National Championship, heads to Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN August 8-9th.
