Root River Racing’s Josh Upperman Top Five at Muddy Creek

It was a perfect day for racing with good weather and track conditions. The course was challenging, but Josh Upperman was ready for action aboard his Root River Racing Honda TRX 450R.

When the gate dropped for the first moto, Upperman got off to a mid-pack start, and he started his charge through the competition. Upperman worked his way up to sixth place after a couple of laps, and held the position all the way to the checkered flag. “I didn’t get the start I wanted, but I started picking people off one by one, and I got up to sixth place. I was gaining on the guys out front, but I ran out of time,” said Upperman.

For the second moto, Upperman was in fifth off the start and began pressuring fourth place. Upperman pushed hard but was not able to make a pass. Upperman stayed strong and finished in fifth place, giving him a top five overall finish. “I had a little bit better start, but I wasn’t up front where I wanted to be. I was right on fourth place and lit a fire under him and we started catching third place, but I never was able to make a pass,” said Upperman, who claimed fifth overall; his best finish so far this season.

Josh Upperman is currently sixth in series points and is looking to break into the top five at High Point. “It’s a brand new program for me this year, and a brand new ride, so it has taken a few rounds to get comfortable, but we are getting close. We have a great program in place with Rich Gillette and the Root River team. It’s a learning curve, and we are going in the right direction. High Point has been good to me in the past, so hopefully everything will come together for an even better finish,” said Upperman.

Round number four of the 2015 Mt. Dew AMA ATV Motocross Championships heads to High point raceway in Mount Morris, PA on May 16-17th where Root River Racing’s Josh Upperman will be going for a podium finish.
