La Crosse, WI (6/16/2015) - Root
River Racing’s Josh Upperman fought hard to finish
eighth place overall Sunset Ridge MX for round six
of the 2015 Mt. Dew AMA ATV Motocross National Championship
in Walnut, IL.
The return to Sunset Ridge MX provided for some
exciting racing action once again. The day started
out well in timed qualifying, and dry conditions
during the first moto led to a solid ride for
Upperman as he battled with Brown up front. “I
settled in fourth, and I kept a really good pace
behind Thomas (Brown),” said Upperman, who would
finish just over two seconds behind Brown, keeping
him close the entire race.

As moto two rolled around, so did the rain showers,
leaving for a wet and challenging motocross track.
Upperman and his Root River Racing machine were
put to the test when he got off to a mid-pack
start in the mud, which made for a difficult race.
“ I had some technical difficulties and my bike
stalled out. After getting that back up and running,
I finished the race in fifteenth,” said Upperman.

Despite the fifteenth place position in moto
two, Upperman’s strong performance in moto one
would salvage him an eighth place overall finish
for the day, which currently has him fourth in
the pro championship points race.
This has been a transition year for Upperman
after making the switch to a new race program
with Root River Racing, but he continues to gain
confidence on his new ride and training program.
“We are going to keep doing our homework, keep
pushing, keep training, and we’ll be right up
there on the box again,” said Upperman.
On June 27th, round seven of the Mt. Dew AMA
ATV Motocross Nationals will be held at the Root
River Racing Team’s hometown track of Spring Creek
MX, located in Millville, MN. “It’s a great track
and I’m looking forward to being there,” said
Upperman. With extra hometown Root River Racing
fans showing their support, Upperman is looking
to finish back on the podium.
