Parker, AZ (1/14/2015) - Can Am / ITP / Murray Racing's Jason and Derek Murray started the 2015 Best in the Desert THR Motorsports’ Parker 250 with a seventh place finish to score some valuable points in the 2015 BITD Championship race against a stacked field of Pro UTV racers.

Since the Arizona desert is known for its dry and dusty conditions, that can cause serious visibility issues, it was a welcomed sight when rain began to fall about an hour before the start of the SXS classes. The rain stopped right around starting time but made conditions nearly perfect for the first lap of the two lap BITD SXS race covering approximately 160 miles.

The Murray Racing team was number 33 on the starting line, but Can-Am’s Jason and Derek Murray were determined to finish well for their first race of the season. Derek Murray was the starting driver for the team, but his efforts were so strong that he drove for the entire race. “We were 33 out of 43 in our class off the start, but the Can-Am was running awesome and our ITP Tires hooked up great; we moved up to tenth by the first lap, but we suffered a mechanical issue in lap two, so we couldn’t go as hard as we normally would, but I pushed it as hard as I could for the last lap,” said Derek Murray.

Derek & Jason Murray earned their 32nd consecutive finish at the BITD Parker 250. The team plans on racing in a Can-Am Maverick Turbo at the next BITD round

“Since we are running our same machine as last year, our goal our here was to get it to the finish line and get it in the top ten. We are building a couple of the new Maverick X DS Turbo’s and we will be running one of those at the next round,” Derek Murray added.

The team piloted their # 1917 Maverick to a seventh place finish despite suffering issues in lap two, the final lap of the race. “Derek drove the entire race. We were supposed to swap after the first lap but he was really railing it out there so he just stayed behind the wheel. Parker has never been our strong suit. We have won in every other round except Parker so for us to come out here and finish; we are pretty happy with that,” said Jason Murray.

“We had a good race and claimed our 32 consecutive finish, so we are happy about that. Our Can-Am was running strong and that makes us even more excited that we are going to debut the new 2015 Maverick Turbo at the next round for the Desert Classic. We are really stoked about that and want to put it on the podium,” said Jason Murray.

The next round of the 2015 BITD series for the UTV classes will be the Polaris RZR UTV World Championship Desert Classic on February 20-22 in Laughlin, NV, where the Can-Am / Murray Racing will be going for the top of the Pro SXS podium in the new 2015 Can-Am Maverick X DS Turbo.
