La Crosse, WI (5/9/2015) - Root River Racing’s Noah Mickelson clinched the overall wins in both the Youth All Star and Schoolboy Sr. classes while Megan Manshack once again dominated the Women’s class at round three of the 2015 Mt. Dew AMA ATV Motocross Championships at Muddy Creek in Blountville, TN.
The track was challenging but conditions were good and helped to put several team members on the podium, including Noah Mickelson, who swept all four motos in his two classes.
In the Youth All Star class, Mickelson grabbed the moto one holeshot and checked out. For the second moto, Mickelson was second off the start but took over the lead after one lap and pulled away, taking the moto win and the overall.
In the Schoolboy Sr. class, Mickelson was unstoppable after grabbing both moto holeshots and leading the way from start to finish for both moto wins and the top spot on the podium.
“It felt really good when I took both wins down in Texas, and I wanted to repeat that feeling again, so I have worked really hard, and it paid off for me. I really have to thank Root River Racing though. If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be here. I am going to keep working hard and hopefully bring home some more wins at High Point,” said Mickelson.
In the Women’s class, Megan Manshack grabbed the holeshot in the first moto and checked out for the moto one win. In the second moto, Manshack took the holeshot again but came under fire and fell back to second briefly before regaining the lead and taking the win, giving her the top spot on the podium. “I got the holeshot in both motos. I had a little competition in moto two, but I was able to retake the lead and get the win. My plans have changed a bit for the season. My main focus is still the GNCC series, but I plan to make at least seven rounds of motocross, so I can go for the championship. It’s been an exciting season so far, the competition has been really good,” said Manshack.

Dylan Tremellen has had consistent and impressive results this season and found his way to the podium in the Pro Sport class. After finishing seventh in moto one, and he came on strong in moto two by grabbing the holeshot holding the lead from start to finish for second overall. “My Root River quad was running great. I pulled the start in the second moto and led from start to finish, which gave me second overall. I’m tied for the points lead in that class, so I am pretty happy about that,” said Tremellen.
In the Pro-am class, Tremellen had a good first moto and finished in fourth place. For the second moto, he got hung up on the start but made an impressive charge. “I got hung up on the start and was dead last, but I was able to make it back up for a tenth place finish and that gave me seventh overall,” said Tremellen.
Brandon O’Neill had a strong performance
in the 90 Shifter Sr. class and finished second
on the podium. O’Neill was in fourth off
the start in the first moto and worked up to second
place before crossing the finish line. For moto
two, O’Neill was third off the start and
quickly took over second and began to battle for
the lead. “It was really close in moto two.
He got me by .01 seconds, so I got second again
for second overall, which I am pretty happy about,”
said O’Neill, who also claimed fifth in
the 90 Open Sr. class and seventh in Supermini.
Johannah Vossman put together two solid motos
for the Schoolgirl class, giving her third overall.
“I spun out in the first moto, and finished
fifth, but moto two went better, and I got second
for third overall. I’m happy to be on the
podium,” said Vossman.

with 5-3 moto finishes. “I had a good jump
off the start in the second moto and I was battling
it out, but I was able to hold on to third and
get on the podium. This is my best finish since
I got hurt at Daytona, and I am feeling much better
now,” said Hicks, who also finished 6th
in the 450 A class.
Tyler Mack also finished on the podium in the
450B class after a moto one win and a fourth in
moto two, for third overall. “I was third
off the start and by the third lap I passed for
the lead and pulled a five or six second lead.
I didn’t get the start I wanted in moto
two but I worked up to fourth and got third overall,”
said Mack.
Haedyn Mickelson took 3-6 finishes in the Production A class for fourth overall and went 2-5 in the 450 A class to round out the top five. Mickelson is currently third in points in both classes.

"As
the owner of the Root River Racing Team,
it can be nerve racking with so many riders
and with so much going on. Muddy Creek
MX was one of those weekends that truly
put me to the test. It is usually the
traveling with so many rigs that makes
me the most nervous trying to get everyone
there and back safely and on time. This
weekend was all about the riders that
almost put me in my grave. My son and
team rider, Alex Gillette, was ready to
go come back from his wrist surgery, but
I was on pins and needles watching him
even practice let alone race.
Owen
Subjek, our newest and youngest rider,
while playing tag with friends Friday
night slipped on the tongue of a trailer
and snapped his femur. Tommy Vossman,
another one coming back this weekend from
wrist surgery, that I kept a very close
eye on. "Factory" Sam Rowe,
on
Sunday in Pro Am, doing was he
does best, pulls the holeshot and is running
out front until something causes him to
go flying off the quad and end up heading
to the hospital with minor injuries. All
of my riders and many others not on Root
River Racing, I consider as my own kid,
so when injuries happen I get upset like
any other parent would.
Of course
the topper of the weekend that everyone
is talking about is John Natalie's crash.
I have sponsored John over the last few
years, and he has been one of the biggest
helps for me understanding what it takes
for a rider to be successful in this sport.
In that time, John and I have become very
close, and I hate seeing things like this
happen to anyone I'm close to. John and
I text on a regular basis, so on
Sunday night when I text John to
get the true story as to how injured he
was, his biggest concern was that he let
me down. I reassured John I was not disappointed
or let down or pissed off that he had
an accident and was injured. I told him
it was an accident and it is apart of
the sport."
