La Crescent, MN (3/16/2015) -
The Root River Amateur team not only had a great
time at the first ever Daytona ATV Supercross,
they also had great results with Megan Manshack
clinching the Women’s class, and Sam Rowe taking
the win in the Pro Sport class.
Root River Racing / Rage ATV’s Megan Manshack
came on strong in the Women’s class of the Daytona
ATV Supercross. Manshack charged her way from
a second place start in the heat race to take
the win. Manshack was determined to keep her winning
momentum going in the main, and she grabbed the
holeshot and led from start to finish for the
first ever Women’s Daytona ATV SX win. “I can’t
believe we are here in Daytona. This is the biggest
and funnest race of my career so far. It’s a pretty
amazing feeling to come out here and take the
win,” said Manshack who will be focusing on racing
the entire GNCC series and a few motocross races
this year.
Root River Racing’s Sam Rowe had a tough heat
race in the Pro sport class, crashing in the second
lap and finishing eleventh, but Rowe redeemed
himself in the main. Rowe was in second off the
start and waited for an opportunity to go for
the lead. Rowe got his opportunity in lap three
and went for the pass. Once out front, Rowe set
a blistering pace and recorded the fastest lap
time of the race in lap four with a time of 01:01.345.
That speed allowed him to pull a ten second gap
and take the Pro Sport win.
#33 Tyler Mack charged his way to a 450 B class
heat win. For the 450 B main, Mack was in third
off the start and battled his way to the lead
by the third lap. Once out front, Mack pulled
a three second lead and took the win. Tyler Mack
also had a successful race in the Production B
class where he finished third in his heat race
and claimed third in the main.
Noah Mickelson had a tough time in the Youth
All Star heat race after crashing and had to go
to the LCQ, which he won. In the Youth All Star
main, Mickelson charged his way up from a fifth
place start to finish in second place. In the
Schoolboy Sr. class, Mickelson claimed the win
in his heat race, and battled it out on the main
for a second place finish.
Haedyn Mickelson had a good start to the day
after coming up from a fifth place start to clinch
the heat win in the 450 A class. Mickelson also
put in a strong effort in the main and finished
in fourth.
Dylan Tremellen stayed consistent and claimed
a sixth place finish in the Pro-Sport class and
finished seventh in the main.
Johannah Vossman finished twelfth in the Youth
Sport All Stars, and her brother, Tommy Vossman,
wasn’t able to make the event after suffering
an injury while training for the season. Finally,
Alex Gillette is also still recovering from his
surgery over the winter, but both Vossman and
Gillette will be back in action before the end
of the season.
The Root River Racing team will be heading to
Echeconnee in Lizella, GA on March 21-22 for the
first round of the 2015 Mt. Dew AMA ATV Motocross
Championships where they will be going for the
podium.
